CORROSION RESISTANCE:
316L Stainless steel rod
- Recognized for its superior resistance, 316L stainless steel rod stands out due to its increased chromium and molybdenum content, making it significantly more resilient than 304 in various atmospheric and corrosive environments.

WELDING CHARACTERISTICS:
- 316L offers outstanding weldability through all standard fusion methods, whether or not filler metals are used.

HEAT TREATMENT:
- The annealing temperature range for 316L stainless steel is between 1900 to 2100°F (1038 to 1149°C).
- It cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
- Special consideration must be given to compensate for a higher coefficient of thermal expansion to prevent warping and distortion.
PROCESSING - HOT FORMING:
- Most producers recommend maintaining a maximum forging temperature between 2100°F and 2300°F.
- Avoid forging below 1700°F (927°C) for optimal results.
- To achieve the best corrosion resistance, ensure forgings receive a final anneal.
PROCESSING - COLD FORMING:
- 316/316L stainless steel rods are extremely tough and ductile, making them highly amenable to cold working processes such as roll forming, swaging, cold heading, deep drawing, and bending without significant difficulty.
