HEAT RESISTANCE:

  • This alloy exhibits commendable oxidation resistance at intermittent temperatures up to 1600°F and continuous exposure up to 1690°F.
    However, continuous use of 304 round bar between 800-1580°F is not advisable if aqueous corrosion resistance is critical.

WELDING CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Easily welded using the full spectrum of conventional welding techniques, excluding oxyacetylene.
  • For welding, AWS E308L/ ER308L filler metal is recommended with Prodec 304/304L steel.

MACHINABILITY:

  • This alloy offers faster machining speeds, enhanced tool longevity, improved part quality, and reduced overall machining costs.
