Duplex Steel S32205 Rods are unparalleled in versatility and performance, making them the top choice across various sectors. S32205 combines the best of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, offering remarkable strength, corrosion resistance, and cost-efficiency. Composition and Property: Featuring approximately 22% chromium, 5-6% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and high levels of nitrogen, S32205 stands out with its superior corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. The dual-phase microstructure of austenite and ferrite provides an edge over typical austenitic or ferritic stainless steels. Corrosion Resistance: One of the standout features of S32205 rods is their exceptional resistance to multiple forms of corrosion. Highly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich environments, they are perfect for chemical processing, maritime applications, and the offshore oil and gas industry.

Duplex 2205 Round Bar is a distinguished duplex ferritic-austenitic stainless steel bar, enriched with 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 5-6% nickel. As the most prevalent duplex stainless steel grade, its yield strength is twice that of common austenitic grades. This bar boasts exceptional fatigue strength and offers superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking, as well as crevice, pitting, erosion, and general corrosion, even under the harshest conditions.
Most manufacturers recommend a maximum hot forming temperature between 2010 and 2100°F (1100 to 1150°C). If the work piece is not compact, the edges may cool significantly faster than the bulk, increasing the risk of cracking in cooler regions.
Duplex 2205 demonstrates excellent formability across a range of fabrications. However, its high strength can pose challenges. Even with sufficient equipment power, the high strength of the grade necessitates allowances for greater spring-back.
Duplex stainless steel bar 2205 is slightly more challenging to machine compared to 300 series austenitic stainless steel. This necessitates higher cutting forces, resulting in quicker tool wear. For optimal machining, consider the following guidelines: A) Utilize a robust, rigid machine with a very strong tool and workpiece mount; B) Shorten tool extensions to reduce vibration; C) Keep the tool nose radius minimal to ensure carbide sharpness while maintaining strength; D) Sequence machining operations so that the depth of each cut penetrates below the work-hardened layer from prior operations.
