The 317L Stainless Steel Pipe is an advanced, molybdenum-infused low-carbon austenitic stainless steel, enhanced with higher levels of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum, offering superior corrosion and chemical resistance against a variety of acids such as sulfite, acetic, formic, citric, and tartaric acids. With its low carbon composition, 317L Pipe avoids sensitization during welding and exhibits remarkable creep resistance, rupture stress, and tensile strength at elevated temperatures. This steel remains nonmagnetic in its annealed state, though slight magnetism may develop post-welding.
The 317L seamless pipe finds extensive use in the transport and handling of sulfur, pulp liquors, acid dyes, acetylation, nitration mixtures, bleaching solutions, heavy coal, petroleum, and numerous chemical compounds. Additional applications of the 317L alloy include:
