CORROSION RESISTANCE Alloy 2205 provides outstanding resistance to chloride-induced pitting and stress corrosion cracking.
ELEVATED TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code sets a maximum temperature limit of 600°F (315°C). Prolonged exposure to temperatures above this threshold leads to embrittlement.
MECHANICAL PROPERTIES Alloy 2205 boasts more than twice the strength of conventional austenitic stainless steels in the annealed condition. It can also be supplied in the cold-worked condition with a yield strength exceeding 160 ksi, maintaining good toughness at temperatures as low as -50°F (-10°C).
WORKABILITY Alloy 2205 can be cold-formed. However, it has a high work-hardening rate, so intermediate annealing may be necessary. Annealing is recommended after hot or cold forming to achieve optimal stress corrosion resistance.
