Containing at least 11.5% chromium, it resists corrosion and offers peak performance when tempered and polished after hardening. This general-purpose stainless steel pipe, known for its hardness, remains machinable and is ideal for applications needing moderate heat and corrosion resistance coupled with high strength. Although it sacrifices some properties like weldability and ductility at sub-zero temperatures, it stands out with its magnetic nature and significant corrosion resistance. Typically heat-treated to achieve various mechanical properties, 410 stainless steel is not advisable for extreme corrosion scenarios.

- Corrosion Resistance
410 stainless steel is resistant to dry air, fresh water, mild bases and acids, foods, steam, and hot gases.
For maximum heat and corrosion resistance, 410 stainless steel must be hardened. Optimal performance is achieved when the surface is smooth.
Heat Resistance
410 stainless steel exhibits good resistance to scaling up to about 650°C. However, it is not generally recommended for use at temperatures between 400 and 580°C due to reduced mechanical properties.
Heat Treatment
Fully anneal at 815-900°C, followed by a slow furnace cool to 600°C, then air cool.
Process anneal at 650-760°C and air cool.
Welding
410 stainless steel is easily welded by all standard methods but requires preheating to 150-260°C and post-weld annealing to minimize the risk of cracking.

The standard martensitic stainless steel alloy 410 is used for severely stressed parts and offers excellent corrosion resistance in addition to high strength and hardness. A minimum of 11.5% chromium is present in Alloy 410, which is just enough to show corrosion-resistant qualities in steam, many moderate chemical conditions, and mild atmospheres. CORROSION RESISTANCE:
- Good corrosion resistance to air corrosion, locations with mildly corrosive conditions, and drinking water. Will not corrode.

Our stainless steel pipes (sometimes called steel pipes) are available in a range of beautiful finishes: brushed finish, 2B smooth finish, or 8K mirror finish.
The finished side of each stainless steel pipe we supply is coated with a film. This film is easily peeled off after fabrication or installation and protects the surface of the material from wear and marks. The backside is unfinished.
