GENERAL PROPERTIES
Duplex 2507 (UNS S32750) from Daxun Alloys is a super duplex stainless steel featuring 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel. CORROSION RESISTANCE
General Corrosion
- The high chromium and molybdenum content of 2507 makes it highly resistant to uniform corrosion by organic acids such as formic and acetic acid.
- Offers excellent resistance to inorganic acids, particularly those containing chlorides.
- Suitable for use in dilute hydrochloric acid.
- Pitting should not be a concern below the borderline in this figure, although crevices should be avoided.
Intergranular Corrosion
- The low carbon content significantly reduces the risk of carbide precipitation at grain boundaries during heat treatment.
- Extremely resistant to carbide-related intergranular corrosion.
Stress Corrosion Cracking
- The duplex structure of the Baosteel 2507 Stainless Steel Plate ensures unparalleled resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC), making it a reliable choice for challenging environments.

Pitting Corrosion
- Various testing methodologies can be employed to determine the pitting resistance of steel in chloride-rich solutions, ensuring reliability.
Crevice Corrosion
- Baosteel 2507 demonstrates a high resistance to crevice corrosion, enhancing its longevity in harsh conditions.
Hot Forming
For optimal performance, 2507 should be hot worked within the temperature range of 1875°F to 2250°F, followed by a solution anneal at a minimum of 1925°F and a rapid air or water quench.
Cold Forming
Cold working Baosteel 2507 is compatible with most standard stainless steel forming processes. Given its higher yield strength and lower ductility compared to austenitic steels, fabricators might need to apply more force, use a larger bending radius, and allow for a greater springback margin. Procedures like deep drawing and stretch forming are more challenging with 2507 than with austenitic stainless steel. If forming involves more than 10% cold deformation, a solution anneal and quench are recommended.
Heat Treatment
Post hot or cold forming, Baosteel 2507 should undergo solution annealing and quenching at a temperature of at least 1925°F, followed by a rapid air or water quench. To maximize corrosion resistance, heat-treated products should be pickled and rinsed.
Welding
Baosteel 2507 boasts excellent weldability and can be joined to itself or other materials using various techniques such as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), flux cored wire (FCW), or submerged arc welding (SAW). For desired duplex weld structures, use 2507/P100 filler metal when welding 2507.
