Grade 2 Titanium Rod is the workhorse among titanium alloy rods, offering an impressive strength-to-density ratio ideal for weight-sensitive applications. As a CP (commercially pure) titanium alloy, it perfectly balances strength and weight, providing excellent ductility and high impact strength. Easily welded and highly resistant to corrosion in oxidizing conditions, alkaline media, brine solutions, weakly reducing environments, and wet ***, it is also exceptionally resilient in seawater and saline solutions. The low density, high strength-to-weight ratio, and superior corrosion resistance make Grade 2 Titanium Rod an exceptional choice for a wide range of applications.

AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution treated and aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
Optimum properties are achieved with rapid quenching of small sections in the solution treated and aged condition. Larger sections or delayed quenching may yield suboptimal properties.
Typical hardness in the annealed condition ranges from Rockwell C 30-34, whereas the solution and aged condition reach Rockwell C 35-39.
Experience superior machinability with Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar by employing austenitic stainless steel machining techniques. Utilize slow machining speeds, high feed rates, rigid tooling, and generous amounts of non-chlorinated cutting fluids to achieve excellent results.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod boasts exceptional weldability in both annealed and solution-treated, partially aged conditions, with aging achieved through post-weld heat treatment. Stringent precautions are necessary to avoid contamination from oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding should be carried out within an inert gas-filled chamber or with inert gas shielding the molten metal and adjacent heated zones. Additionally, spot, seam, and flash welding can be performed without a protective atmosphere.
Be aware that Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod might face contamination by hydrogen during improper pickling and by oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during forging, heat treating, and brazing. Such contamination can lead to ductility loss, adversely impacting notch sensitivity and forming characteristics.
We produce bars tailor-made to meet your stringent requirements.
Benefit from excellent surface quality and straightness, perfect roundness, and the tightest diameter tolerances (as per ISO 286-2 up to h5). Our bars are available in straightened, ground, and polished conditions.

Avoid using titanium with strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous ***.
Grade 2 titanium's general corrosion rates in various media are detailed in Table 1. CP titanium is highly resistant to a broad range of environments, including:
CP titanium offers excellent resistance to crevice corrosion in salt solutions compared to stainless steels. It does not exhibit crevice corrosion at temperatures below 80°C (176°F), irrespective of pH, even in super-chlorinated conditions.
Experience the unparalleled performance of Grade 2 Titanium! This exceptional material showcases remarkable resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in hot chloride solutions and remains immune to such corrosion in seawater environments.
Titanium stands out with its excellent resistance against erosion even in dynamic environments.
In seawater velocities reaching up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec), Grade 2 Titanium exhibits negligible material degradation. Even with abrasive particles like sand, its corrosion resistance is only minimally affected.
Grade 2 Titanium shows no significant hydrogen absorption from seawater exposure, even at elevated temperatures. Hydrogen absorption only becomes a concern under the following strict conditions:
Titanium alloys exhibit outstanding immunity to microbiologically influenced corrosion, ensuring durability. Although biofouling can occur due to non-toxicity toward marine organisms, this can be mitigated through chlorination or increased water velocity in heat exchangers.
Titanium's fatigue performance remains uncompromised in seawater. Fatigue endurance limits and *** growth rates are consistent whether tested in air or seawater.
As a noble metal in the galvanic series, titanium generally acts as a cathode when paired with other metals. This means titanium itself is not harmed by galvanic corrosion, though it may accelerate the corrosion of the other metal. Pairing with more noble metals, like graphite, further enhances titanium's passivity.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod maintains its superior fatigue properties in seawater without degradation. Fatigue endurance limits and *** growth rates remain unchanged whether tested in air or seawater.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rod boasts excellent weldability with proper precautions. Due to titanium's reactivity, an inert gas shield is required on both the exterior and interior surfaces of the rod. Ensure the material is free from grease or oil contamination for optimal results.
Typically, Grade 2 Titanium Rod is welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire. Using low heat input helps to minimize the heat-affected zone. Post-weld heat treatment is generally unnecessary for Titanium Rod.
