Grade 409 is a stabilized ferritic general-purpose stainless steel tube that boasts 11% chromium content. Versatile in its application, 409 stainless steel supports roll forming, stretch bending, deep drawing, and press forming. Post-annealing, it remains stable, avoiding hardening even when subjected to cold treatments like warm and roll forming processes such as pressing or stretch bending. The 409 tube also provides satisfactory weldability. However, it is unsuitable for shock-loaded structures, as grain growth in the heat-affected zone can compromise mechanical integrity.
