AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution treated and aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
In the solution treated and aged condition, rapid quenching of small sections yields optimal properties. However, larger section sizes and/or delayed quenching may result in less than optimal properties.
Typical hardness in the annealed condition is Rockwell C 30-34, rising to Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution and aged condition.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar can be machined using austenitic stainless steel machining methods which include slow machining speeds, high feeds, rigid tools, and extensive use of non-chlorinated cutting fluids.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod exhibits robust weldability in both the annealed state and the solution and partially aged condition, with post-weld aging achieved through heat treatment. To ensure the integrity of the weld, care must be taken to prevent contamination by oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding is best performed in an inert gas-filled chamber or with inert gas shielding the molten metal and its surrounding heated zones, accompanied by a tail shield. Additionally, spot, seam, and flash welding can be executed without the necessity of a protective atmosphere.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod is susceptible to contamination by hydrogen during improper pickling, as well as by oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during processes such as forging, heat treating, and brazing. This contamination can lead to reduced ductility, which may negatively impact notch sensitivity and forming characteristics.
We produce bars precisely tailored to your specifications.
Our bars boast exceptional surface quality and straightness, flawless roundness, and the tightest diameter tolerances (according to ISO 286-2 up to h5). They are available in straightened, ground, and polished conditions.

Avoid using titanium with strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous *** to prevent degradation.
Grade 2 titanium is known for its impressive corrosion resistance across various media, as demonstrated in Table 1. CP titanium is resilient against numerous environments, including:
CP titanium offers outstanding resistance to crevice corrosion in salt solutions, outperforming stainless steels. It remains unaffected by crevice corrosion at temperatures below 80 °C (176°F), regardless of pH, even under super chlorinated conditions.
Grade 2 titanium exhibits exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in hot chloride solutions and is immune to SCC in seawater.
Titanium exhibits superior resistance to erosion in flowing environments like
seawater, enduring velocities up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec) with minimal material impact. Even abrasive particles such as sand have a negligible effect on its corrosion resistance.
Titanium exhibits minimal hydrogen absorption in seawater, even at elevated temperatures. Hydrogen absorption typically occurs only under specific conditions:
Titanium alloys exhibit exceptional resistance to all forms of microbiologically influenced corrosion. Remarkably, titanium alloys show no toxicity toward marine organisms, which may lead to biofouling in seawater. This phenomenon can be effectively minimized through chlorination or by increasing water velocity within the heat exchanger.
Unlike many other materials, titanium maintains its impressive fatigue performance even in the presence of seawater. The fatigue endurance limits and fatigue *** growth rates remain identical whether tested in air or seawater.
In the galvanic series, titanium is positioned towards the noble end, near stainless steels. Typically, titanium acts as the cathode when paired with other metals, thereby avoiding galvanic corrosion itself but potentially accelerating the corrosion of the other metal. Coupling titanium with more noble metals, like graphite, only enhances its passivity.
Grade 2 Titanium Rods, unlike many other materials, do not experience degradation in fatigue properties in seawater. Fatigue endurance limits and *** growth rates remain consistent, whether tested in air or seawater.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rods are highly weldable, provided the necessary precautions are taken. Due to titanium's reactivity, it requires an inert gas shield on both the exterior and interior surfaces during welding. It is also imperative that the material is free from any grease or oil contamination.
Grade 2 Titanium Rods are commonly welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire. Employing low heat input is crucial to minimize the heat-affected zone size. Typically, post-weld heat treatment is not required for Titanium Rods.
