Ti-6Al-4V- Grade 5 Titanium tube
- Titanium Alloy-(UNS R56400)
INTRODUCTION
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 Alloy Tube (UNS R56400) is the most popular titanium alloy. It is a duplex alpha+beta titanium alloy that uses aluminium as an alpha stabiliser and vanadium as a beta stabiliser. This high-strength alloy can be employed at cryogenic temperatures of around 800°F (427°C). ATI Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is used in annealing, solution treatment, and ageing. Compressor blades, discs, and rings for jet engines; fuselage and space capsule components; pressure containers; *** cases; helicopter rotor hubs; fasteners; and crucial forgings with a high strength-to-weight ratio.
- The alloy is initially melted using vacuum arc (VAR), electron beam (EB) or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM). Remelting is achieved in one or two vacuum arc steps.

- The very best of properties In the solution treated and aged condition, small cross sections are obtained that are rapidly
quenched. Larger sections sizes and/or a quench delay may cause properties to be lower than the optimum values.
HARDNESS
Typical hardness in the annealed condition is Rockwell C 30-34, and about Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution and aged condition.
FORGEABILITY/ FORMABILITY
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy tubes are forged at 1,750°F (954°C), with an end forging temperature of 1,450°F (788°C). For optimal results, a reduction of at least 35% is recommended.
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy showcases remarkable resilience, even when formed at room temperature after annealing. This exceptional alloy can endure strenuous forming operations like bending or stretching at elevated temperatures up to 1,200°F (649°C) without compromising its mechanical integrity. For precise hot sizing or forming, creep forming is employed within the temperature range of 1,000 to 1,200°F (538 to 649°C).
MACHINABILITY
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy exhibits machinability comparable to that of austenitic stainless steels. Optimal machining is achieved with slow speeds, heavy feeds, and rigid setups,
utilizing robust tooling and substantial quantities of non-chlorinated cutting fluid.
WELDABILITY
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 Alloy Titanium Tube excels in weldability, whether in its annealed state or after solution and partial aging. The aging process follows post-weld heat treatment.
- It is imperative to prevent contamination by oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding should be conducted in an inert gas-filled chamber or with an inert gas tail shield protecting the molten metal and adjacent hot zones. Spot welding, seam welding, and flash welding can be executed effectively without a protective environment.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy requires careful handling to avoid hydrogen contamination from improper pickling and the absorption of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during processes like forging, heat treatment, and brazing. Such contamination can compromise ductility, increasing notch sensitivity and affecting forming properties.
Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Pipe - Grade 5 Titanium Tube
Titanium Alloy - (UNS R56400)
Introduction
DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 (UNS R56400) stands as the most renowned titanium alloy. This duplex alpha+beta titanium alloy incorporates aluminum as the alpha stabilizer and vanadium as the beta stabilizer. With its high strength, the alloy remains effective at temperatures as low as 800°F (427°C). ATI Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is ideal for annealing, solution treating, and aging. Applications include compressor blades, disks, and rings for jet engines; fuselage and space capsule components; pressure vessels; *** cases; helicopter rotor hubs; fasteners; and critical forgings requiring a superior strength-to-weight ratio.
Initially melted using advanced techniques like vacuum arc (VAR), electron beam (EB), or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM), the alloy undergoes one or two vacuum arc remelting steps to achieve its final form.
