The majority of our inventory is our unique processed bar grade: stainless steel round bars, which are melted to consistent standards to improve machinability and reduce the total cost of each part. Our stainless steel bar processing machinery enables Daxun Alloys to produce to the precise specifications of our customers.

1. Daxun can perform heat treatments on our stainless steel bars. This will depend on the chemistry of the metal being treated. 2. Positive Material Identification (PMI) In some cases, additional Positive Material Identification testing may need to be completed. Daxun Stainless Steel Products can complete this testing in-house or work with an independent laboratory to complete the testing. 3. Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Utilizes high frequency sound energy to inspect and measure stainless steel bar products. This helps with defect detection/evaluation, dimensional measurement, etc.

GENERAL PROPERTIES

• 304/304L Stainless Steel Rod alloy is an upgraded version of regular 304/304L that has been treated for better machinability and uniformity. This alloy will machine faster, with longer tool life, higher part quality, and lower overall cost of machined parts. 304/304L Stainless Steel Rod is not magnetic when annealed, but may be slightly magnetic after cold working or welding.

CORROSION RESISTANCE:

• DAXUN 304/304L Stainless Steel Bar is a versatile general purpose stainless steel with good resistance to atmospheric corrosion, corrosion from a wide range of organic and inorganic chemicals, and corrosion from food and beverages.
• It is also used in vacuum processing equipment and specialized instruments where high integrity is critical.

HEAT RESISTANCE:

• Good oxidation resistance in intermittent use to 1600°F and continuous use to 1690°F.
  Continuous use of 304 round bar in the 800-1580°F range is not recommended if subsequent aqueous corrosion resistance is important.

WELDING CHARACTERISTICS:

• readily welded by full range of conventional welding procedures except oxyacetylene.
• AWS E308L/ ER308L filler metal should be used with Prodec 304/304L steel.

MACHINABILITY:

• offers faster machining speeds, longer tool life, improved part quality and lower total cost of machined parts.

HEAT TREATING & ANNEALING

• Daxun Stainless Steel Products can heat treat some of our 400 Series Stainless Steel Bars. Heat treating creates stresses due to hardening, depending on the chemistry of the metal being treated. Heat treating is also used for tempering, quenching, normalizing, and solution annealing.

 POSITIVE MATERIAL IDENTIFICATION (PMI)

• In some cases, it may be necessary to complete additional positive material identification testing. Daxun Stainless Products can complete this testing in house or we can work with an independent laboratory to complete the testing. Please contact us for specific requirements.

 UT TESTING

• Ultrasonic Testing (UT) utilizes sound energy at high frequencies, in order to provide examinations and measurements of the stainless steel product. This aids in flaw detection/evaluation, dimensional measurements, etc.
