Hot-rolled Titanium Tubes: Outside Diameter (OD) ranges from 19mm to 325mm, with wall thickness spanning 9mm to 30mm, and lengths reaching up to 5000mm, customized on a case-by-case basis between manufacturer and customer. - Hot-extruded Titanium Tubes: OD ranges from 50mm to 160mm, wall thickness from 7mm to 35mm, and lengths up to 3000mm, also tailored individually between manufacturer and customer.
Cold-finished Titanium Tubes

These tubes are available with an OD of 6mm to 89mm, wall thickness from 0.5mm to 11mm, and lengths up to 6000mm, with customization available as needed by the customer.

Distinguished as a duplex alpha+beta titanium alloy, it fortifies its structure with aluminium as an alpha stabilizer and vanadium as a beta stabilizer. This formidable high-strength alloy excels in extreme conditions, functioning efficiently at cryogenic temperatures nearing 800°F (427°C). The ATI Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is indispensable across various treatments-annealing, solution treatment, and ageing. Its applications span from compressor blades, discs, and rings in jet engines to fuselage and space capsule components. Additionally, it is integral in pressure containers, *** cases, helicopter rotor hubs, fasteners, and critical forgings that demand a high strength-to-weight ratio.
  • The alloy's initial melting phase employs advanced techniques such as vacuum arc remelting (VAR), electron beam (EB), or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM). One or two steps of vacuum arc remelting ensure exceptional quality.

  • In the solution treated and aged condition, achieving optimal properties requires rapidly quenched small cross-sections.
    Larger section sizes or delays in quenching may result in properties below the optimum values.

HARDNESS

Typical hardness: Rockwell C 30-34 in the annealed condition, Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution and aged condition.

FORGEABILITY/FORMABILITY

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy tubes excel in forgeability, with forging temperatures at 1,750°F (954°C) and end forging at 1,450°F (788°C). For optimal results, a reduction of at least 35% is recommended.
  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is a challenging material to form at room temperature, even after annealing. Therefore, intense forming operations such as bending or stretching can be executed on annealed material at elevated temperatures up to 1,200°F (649°C) without compromising its mechanical properties. For hot sizing or forming, creep forming can be utilized within the temperature range of 1,000 to 1,200°F (538 to 649°C).

Introduction
DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 (UNS R56400) is the most widely utilized titanium alloy. It is a duplex alpha+beta titanium alloy with aluminum as the alpha stabilizer and vanadium as the beta stabilizer. This robust alloy is suitable for use at temperatures as low as 800°F (427°C). ATI Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is employed in annealing, solution treating, and aging processes. Applications include compressor blades, disks, and rings for jet engines; fuselage and space capsule components; pressure vessels; *** cases; helicopter rotor hubs; fasteners; and critical forgings that demand a high strength-to-weight ratio.
The alloy undergoes initial melting via vacuum arc (VAR), electron beam (EB), or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM). Subsequent remelting is carried out in one or two vacuum arc steps.

Heat Treatment

1. Annealing: 1,275 - 1,400°F (691 - 760°C): Maintain for ½ to 2 hours, followed by cooling in air or a furnace.
2. Stress Relief Annealing: 1,000 - 1,200°F (538 - 649°C): Hold for 1 to 8 hours, then cool in air or a furnace.
3. Solution Heat Treating: 1,675 - 1,750°F (913 - 954°C): Hold for 1 hour, then quench in water.
4. Aging: 975 - 1,025°F (524 - 552°C): Maintain for 4 to 8 hours, followed by air cooling.

Optimum Properties

Achieving optimum properties involves rapid quenching of small cross-sections in the solution treated and aged condition. Larger cross-sections or delayed quenching may not yield optimal results.

Hardness

Typical hardness: Rockwell C 30-34 in the annealed condition, and approximately Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution and aged condition.

Forgeability/Formability

DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5, is forged at 1,750°F (954°C) with a final forging temperature of 1,450°F (788°C). A reduction of at least 35% is recommended for optimal results.

Forming the DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5, at room temperature is challenging, even when annealed. Severe forming operations like bending or stretching can be performed on the annealed material at temperatures up to 1,200°F (649°C) without altering its mechanical properties. Creep forming can be used for hot sizing or forming at temperatures ranging from 1,000 to 1,200°F (538 to 649°C).
