Heat Resistance

Grade 904L stainless steel maintains good oxidation resistance. However, its structural integrity diminishes at elevated temperatures, especially above 400°C.

Heat Treatment

To achieve ideal hardening, Grade 904L stainless steel can be solution heat-treated between 1090°C and 1175°C, followed by rapid cooling. This thermal treatment is highly effective for enhancing durability.

Welding

Grade 904L stainless steel can be welded using all conventional techniques without the need for pre-heat or post-weld heat treatments. Despite the risk of hot cracking in constrained weldments, Grade 904L electrodes and rods, in compliance with AS 1554.6, ensure robust welding performance.
