Grade 5 titanium alloy rod (titanium aluminum vanadium alloy) is the most commonly used α-β titanium alloy, accounting for 50% of the total titanium alloy usage worldwide. One of the most notable features of grade 5 titanium alloy is that it is fully heat treatable and can be used at temperatures up to 400°C. It has low density (4.43 kg/dm³), excellent corrosion resistance, and high mechanical strength. Grade 5 titanium alloy has high tensile strength at ambient temperature and good creep resistance at temperatures up to 300°C. It also has strong *** resistance and fatigue resistance. The age-hardening ability of 6AL-4V titanium alloy rod makes it an excellent choice for a wide range of applications, including fasteners and components in harsh environments. Its high machinability and weldability make it suitable for a diverse range of industrial applications.
DAXUN® Ti Grade 5 is a titanium alloy bar (6al-4v) featuring:
Daxun produces high-quality titanium bars with high performance, and can also manufacture according to customer's specifications:
Daxun performs several quality assurance tests, including mechanical tests like tensile strength, chemical analysis, material positive identification (PMI) tests, micro and macro testing, intergranular corrosion (IGC) tests, ultrasonic flaw detection, pitting and resistance tests, hardness tests, material positive identification, and expansion tests. These rigorous tests ensure that the Grade 2 Titanium Rod and Grade 2 Titanium Round Bar material meet the required applications. During production, we measure the diameter, thickness, and surface quality of the product.

AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution Treated and Aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
Rapid quenching of small sections in the solution treated and aged condition yields optimal properties. Larger sections or delayed quenching may yield less optimal results.
Typical hardness in the annealed condition ranges from Rockwell C 30-34, and Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution treated and aged condition.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar can be efficiently machined using austenitic stainless steel machining techniques, which involve slow speeds, high feeds, and rigid tooling. Ample amounts of non-chlorinated cutting fluids are essential to ensure a smooth machining process.
Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod is highly weldable in both annealed and solution-partially aged conditions, with aging performed during post-weld heat treatment. Strict precautions are required to avoid contamination from oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding should be done in an inert gas environment to protect the molten metal and heated zones. Spot, seam, and flash welding can be conducted without a protective atmosphere.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod is susceptible to contamination by hydrogen during improper pickling and by oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during processes like forging, heat treating, and brazing. Such contamination can reduce ductility, adversely affecting notch sensitivity and forming properties.
We manufacture bars tailored to your specific requirements.
Our bars feature excellent surface quality, perfect roundness, and the tightest diameter tolerances (ISO 286-2 up to h5). Available in straightened, ground, and polished conditions.

Titanium should be avoided with strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous ***.
The general corrosion rates for Grade 2 Titanium across various media are displayed in Table 1. CP Titanium demonstrates excellent corrosion resistance in diverse environments, including:
CP Titanium boasts robust resistance to crevice corrosion in salt solutions compared to stainless steels. CP Titanium remains unaffected by crevice corrosion below 80°C (176°F), irrespective of pH levels, even in highly chlorinated conditions.
Grade 2 Titanium offers superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in hot chloride solutions and is immune to SCC in seawater.
Titanium exhibits exceptional resistance to erosion in flowing environments.
In seawater with velocities up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec), the impact on titanium is minimal, even when abrasive particles like sand are present.
Titanium does not significantly absorb hydrogen when exposed to seawater, even at elevated temperatures. Hydrogen absorption typically requires three conditions:
Titanium alloys demonstrate unique immunity to microbiologically influenced corrosion. However, they can experience biofouling in seawater, which can be minimized by chlorination or increasing water velocity through heat exchangers.
Titanium maintains its fatigue performance in seawater, with no reduction in endurance or increased *** growth rates compared to air.
In the galvanic series, titanium is near stainless steel and usually acts as the cathode, avoiding galvanic corrosion but potentially accelerating other metals' corrosion. Coupling titanium with more noble metals enhances its passivity.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod retains its fatigue properties in seawater, showing consistent endurance limits and *** growth rates in both air and seawater.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rod is highly weldable with appropriate precautions. An inert gas shield is essential due to titanium's reactivity, and the rod must be free of grease or oil.
Typically, Grade 2 Titanium Rod is welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire, using low heat input to minimize the heat-affected zone. Post-weld heat treatment is not usually necessary.
