Daxun produces high-quality titanium bars with high performance, and can also manufacture according to customer's specifications:

  • Titanium ingots undergo heat treatment, machining, immersion ultrasonic testing, mechanical properties testing, and macroscopic and microscopic structural inspection. Production process: hot-rolled titanium bars for high efficiency and stable performance, forged titanium bars for flexible sizing and improved comprehensive performance through multi-fire forging, and cold-drawn titanium bars for small-sized high-precision applications. HEAT TREATMENT

  • For high hardness, tensile strength, and fatigue strength, perform annealing at 1,700-1,900°F (927 - 1,038°C).
    DAXUN 6-4™ Grade 5 alloy is versatile in heat treatment methods.
  • 1. Anneal: 1,275 -1,400°F (691 - 760°C), ½ to 2 hours, air or furnace cool.
  • 2. Stress Relief Anneal: 1,000 -1,200°F (538 - 649°C), 1 to 8 hours, air or furnace cool.
  • 3. Solution Heat Treat: 1,675 -1,750°F (913 - 954°C), 1 hour, water quench.
  • 4. Aging: 975 -1,025°F (524 - 552°C), 4 to 8 hours - air cool.

Rapid quenching of small sections in the solution treated and aged condition yields optimal properties. Larger sections or delayed quenching may yield less optimal results.

HARDNESS

Typical hardness in the annealed condition ranges from Rockwell C 30-34, and Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution treated and aged condition.

Forgeability/Formability

  • The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar achieves optimal properties when forged at 1,750°F (954°C) with a final forging temperature of 1,450°F (788°C). To attain these superior characteristics, a minimum of 35% reduction is highly recommended.
  • Forming the Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar at room temperature is challenging, even in its annealed state. However, for intensive forming operations like bending or stretching, the material can be handled at temperatures up to 1,200°F (649°C) without compromising mechanical integrity. Additionally, hot sizing and forming are feasible through creep forming within a temperature range of 1,000 - 1,200°F (538 - 649°C).

Machinability

The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar can be efficiently machined using austenitic stainless steel machining techniques, which involve slow speeds, high feeds, and rigid tooling. Ample amounts of non-chlorinated cutting fluids are essential to ensure a smooth machining process.

Weldability

Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod is highly weldable in both annealed and solution-partially aged conditions, with aging performed during post-weld heat treatment.
