AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution treated and aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
For optimum properties in the solution treated and aged condition, rapid quenching of smaller sections is ideal. Larger sections or delayed quenching may yield less than optimal properties.
Typical hardness in the annealed condition is Rockwell C 30-34, and Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution and aged condition.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar boasts exceptional machinability when utilizing austenitic stainless steel machining techniques. Employ slow machining speeds, high feeds, rigid tools, and copious amounts of non-chlorinated cutting fluids for optimal results.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod excels in weldability whether in the annealed state or the solution and partially aged condition, with subsequent aging during post-weld heat treatment. To prevent contamination from oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen, precautions are essential. Fusion welding is best performed in an inert gas chamber or with inert gas shielding for the molten metal and adjacent heated zones. Spot, seam, and flash welding are achievable without a protective atmosphere.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod is susceptible to contamination from hydrogen during improper pickling and oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during forging, heat treating, and brazing. Such contamination can degrade ductility, negatively impacting notch sensitivity and forming characteristics.
We meticulously produce bars tailored to your specifications.
Our bars offer an exceptional surface finish, flawless straightness, perfect roundness, and the tightest diameter tolerances (ISO 286-2 up to h5). Available in straightened, ground, and polished conditions.

Avoid using titanium with strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous *** due to compatibility issues.
The general corrosion rates for Grade 2 titanium across different media are detailed in Table 1. CP titanium offers excellent corrosion resistance in numerous environments, including:
CP titanium demonstrates excellent resistance to crevice corrosion in salt solutions, outperforming stainless steels. It remains unaffected by crevice corrosion at temperatures below 80 °C (176°F), regardless of pH, even in highly chlorinated conditions.
Grade 2 titanium exhibits excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in hot chloride solutions and is immune to SCC in seawater.
Titanium showcases superior resistance to erosion in flowing conditions, ensuring longevity and performance.
Titanium alloys can withstand seawater velocities up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec) with negligible material impact. Even the presence of abrasive particles like sand only slightly affects corrosion, showcasing the robust nature of titanium in marine environments.
Titanium exhibits no significant hydrogen absorption when exposed to seawater, even at elevated temperatures. Hydrogen absorption in titanium typically occurs only under the following specific conditions:
Titanium alloys uniquely resist all forms of microbiologically influenced corrosion. Although not toxic to marine organisms, biofouling can occur in seawater. Mitigation strategies include chlorination or increasing water velocity through heat exchangers, ensuring minimal bio-corrosion.
Unlike many other materials, titanium maintains its fatigue performance in seawater. Both fatigue endurance limits and fatigue *** growth rates remain consistent, whether tested in air or seawater, ensuring reliability in marine applications.
In the galvanic series, titanium is positioned near the noble end, close to stainless steels, and typically acts as the cathode when paired with other metals. This positioning means titanium resists galvanic corrosion but may accelerate corrosion in the coupled metal. Pairing titanium with more noble metals, such as graphite, enhances its passivity and protective qualities.
Grade 2 Titanium Rods exhibit consistent fatigue properties, unaffected by the presence of seawater. Fatigue endurance limits and fatigue *** growth rates remain stable, making them an excellent choice for demanding marine environments.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rods offer excellent weldability, provided proper precautions are taken. Given titanium's reactive nature, an inert gas shield must be applied both outside (OD) and inside (ID) the rod. The material must also be free from any grease or oil contamination to ensure a successful weld.
Grade 2 Titanium Rods are typically welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire. To minimize the heat-affected zone, low heat input should be utilized. Post-weld heat treatments are not commonly performed on Titanium Rods.
