Ti 6Al-4V (Grade 5 Titanium) is the most widely used titanium alloy tube, making up more than 50% of total titanium usage. It is typically used in the annealed state and can operate at temperatures up to 400°C (750°F). Ti 6Al/4V is welded with matching or ELI filler wire. It offers significantly higher strength than commercially pure titanium tubes, alongside superior stiffness and thermal properties (excluding thermal conductivity). The thermal conductivity of Grade 5 titanium tube is about 60% lower than CP titanium. Its heat treatable nature means it can achieve ideal strength and performance. Advantages include strong formability, low density, and excellent corrosion resistance.
This exceptional Titanium Alloy Tube Grade 5 offers an unparalleled blend of strength, corrosion resistance, weldability, and machinability, making it the preferred choice across a multitude of demanding applications. Widely utilized in the military and aviation sectors, this alloy is integral in the construction of military aircraft, rocket components, precision-guided devices, armor plating, naval equipment, and vacuum apparatus. The variant Ti 6Al-4V ELI is also esteemed in the medical field for surgical implants. This versatile alloy demonstrates remarkable performance at temperatures up to 400°C, enhancing ductility and toughness, particularly in cold-working scenarios. Known for its impressive specific strength, it is commonly supplied in an annealed state and can be readily heat-treated to further bolster its strength for various applications. Ti 6Al-4V titanium seamless tubes exhibit a plethora of desirable properties over a broad temperature range of -210°C to 400°C, making them the most commercialized among titanium alloys. This Grade 5 titanium alloy tube stands out for its superior strength, toughness, weldability, and processing capabilities.

Ti-6Al-4V - Grade 5 Titanium Tube
- Titanium Alloy - (UNS R56400)
INTRODUCTION
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 Alloy Tube (UNS R56400) is the most renowned titanium alloy available. This duplex alpha+beta titanium alloy integrates aluminium as an alpha stabiliser and vanadium as a beta stabiliser, providing exceptional high-strength capabilities. It operates efficiently at cryogenic temperatures up to 800°F (427°C). The ATI Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is versatile, suitable for annealing, solution treatment, and ageing processes. It is extensively used in manufacturing compressor blades, discs, and rings for jet engines; fuselage and space capsule components; pressure containers; *** cases; helicopter rotor hubs; fasteners; and critical forgings, all thanks to its remarkable high strength-to-weight ratio.
- The alloy initially undergoes melting via vacuum arc (VAR), electron beam (EB), or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM). The remelting process involves one or two steps of vacuum arc remelting to ensure purity and quality.

WELDABILITY
- DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 Alloy Titanium Tube demonstrates exceptional weldability, whether in the annealed state or after solution and partial aging, with aging completed during post-weld heat treatment.
- To ensure superior weld integrity, precautions must be taken to prevent contamination by oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding can be adeptly performed within an inert gas-filled chamber or using an inert gas tail shield to protect the molten metal and adjacent hot zones. Versatile techniques such as spot welding, seam welding, and flash welding can be executed without necessitating a protective environment.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
- Exercise special care with DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy to avoid contamination with hydrogen due to improper pickling, and the absorption of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during processes like forging, heat treatment, and brazing. Such contamination could impair ductility, affecting notch sensitivity and formability.
