Type 201 stainless steel is an innovative austenitic chromium-nickel-manganese alloy crafted to efficiently conserve nickel. As a cost-effective alternative to traditional Cr-Ni stainless steels like 301 and 304, it uses manganese and nitrogen instead of nickel. Although it cannot be hardened through heat treatment, cold working can significantly enhance its tensile strength. While inherently non-magnetic in its annealed state, it gains magnetic properties post cold working. This mid-range stainless steel is extensively used in appliances, cookware, sinks, kitchen utensils, catering equipment, automotive parts, fixtures, carriages, and window trims due to its robust structural integrity.
