Grade 2 Titanium Tube (UNS R50400 / Werkstoff WS 3.7034)

Grade 2 titanium tubes are the industry standard for numerous applications due to their balanced moderate strength and outstanding ductility. Known for excellent corrosion resistance in both highly oxidizing and slightly reducing conditions, they are indispensable in the chemical and offshore industries, aircraft manufacturing, heat exchangers, hypochlorite systems, fire water systems, ballast water systems, CPI equipment, and various industrial and aerospace components.

Fabrication

Titanium Grade 2 is highly responsive to cold forming using standard techniques. It is readily machinable with sharp tools and liberal coolant usage. Similar to machining austenitic stainless steels, deep and continuous cuts with slow feeds and speeds are recommended.

Weight Reduction

CP 2 grade titanium tubes feature low density and a high strength-to-weight ratio, making them ideal for weight-sensitive applications without compromising strength. They are cold-formable with good ductility and can be welded using conventional TIG and MIG processes, provided inert gas shielding is used to prevent weld zone embrittlement.

Crystal Structure

At room temperature, ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium tube exhibits a hexagonal close-packed (alpha) crystal structure. Above approximately 885°C (1625°F), it transitions to a body-centered cubic (beta) structure. The transformation temperature can vary based on impurities and alloying elements, which can also split the equilibrium transformation into alpha and beta temperature zones. For Grade 2 titanium, typical alpha and beta transformation temperatures are 890°C (1635°F) and 913°C (1675°F), respectively.

Grade 2 Titanium Seamless Pipe Manufacturing Process

Ensuring continuous perimeters during each manufacturing stage, the process involves: sponge titanium vacuum arc melting, ingot blanking, cleaning, cutting, hot extrusion or oblique rolling and piercing, degreasing, drying, cutting, online annealing and straightening, pickling, multiple cold rolling, degreasing, drying, vacuum annealing, straightening, cutting, pickling, final inspection, marking (DAXUN), and packaging.

Grade 2 Titanium Welded Pipe Manufacturing Process

Daxun's ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium welded pipe is meticulously crafted from annealed flat-rolled steel plate or steel strip using the advanced automatic arc welding (TIG) process. The comprehensive production stages include: titanium plate uncoiling, shearing, butt welding, cleaning, pipe forming, TIG welding, eddy current testing, pre-sizing, annealing, precision reducing and sizing, straightening, eddy current testing, caliper marking, cutting, ultrasonic testing, hydrostatic testing, final inspection, and packaging. These welded pipes undergo at least one stress relief heat treatment post-forming and welding to ensure optimal performance. Notably, Daxun's welding process excludes the use of any filler materials, ensuring unparalleled quality.
