A Global Pioneer in Stainless Steel Pipe Fabrication Services Like most non-stainless steels, martensitic 410 stainless steel pipe can be toughened by a "quench and temper" heat treatment. This steel contains a significant amount of chromium (at least 11.5%), which grants it impressive resistance to corrosion. The corrosion resistance peaks when the pipe is tempered and polished post-hardening. 410 stainless steel pipe, a versatile grade of stainless steel, is typically hardened yet remains machinable, making it ideal for applications requiring moderate heat and corrosion resistance along with high strength. The key feature of martensitic stainless steels is their high hardness, though this comes at the expense of some other properties. Fabrication must account for its poor weldability, and a final heat treatment is often necessary. These steels offer lower corrosion resistance compared to standard austenitic stainless steels and lose ductility at sub-freezing temperatures while over-tempering reduces their strength at higher temperatures, thus limiting their operational range. Widely utilized, 410 stainless steel pipe is a 12% chromium martensitic stainless steel that can be treated to yield diverse mechanical properties. It balances high strength and hardness with good corrosion resistance and is both ductile and forgeable. Magnetic under all conditions, it is not recommended for environments with severe corrosion.

Swift Response

  • Remarkable Corrosion Resistance
    410 stainless steel showcases resistance to dry air, fresh water, mild bases and acids, foods, steam, and hot gases.
    Optimal performance is achieved when the steel is hardened for maximum heat and corrosion resistance, and best results are obtained when the surface is smooth.
    Exceptional Heat Resistance
    Good resistance to scaling up to approximately 650°C. However, it is not generally recommended for use between 400 and 580°C due to reduced mechanical properties.
    Comprehensive Heat Treatment
    To fully anneal, heat to 815-900°C, then cool slowly in a furnace to 600°C, followed by air cooling.
    For process annealing, heat to 650-760°C and then air cool.
    Efficient Welding
    Easily welded by all standard methods. Preheat to 150-260°C and post-weld anneal to minimize cracking risks.
