General Corrosion
To achieve optimal results, hot work the 2507 stainless steel between 1875°F and 2250°F, followed by a solution anneal at a minimum of 1925°F and a rapid quench in air or water.
2507 stainless steel can be cold worked using most standard stainless steel forming processes. However, its higher yield strength and lower ductility compared to austenitic steels may require more force, a larger bending radius, and considerations for springback. Deep drawing and stretch forming are more complex. For deformation exceeding 10%, a solution anneal and quench is advisable.
Post hot or cold forming, the 2507 stainless steel should undergo solution annealing at a minimum of 1925°F, followed by a rapid air or water quench. For optimal corrosion resistance, heat-treated products should be pickled and rinsed.
2507 stainless steel boasts excellent weldability and can be joined to itself or other materials using methods such as SMAW, GTAW, PAW, FCW, or SAW. To achieve the desired duplex structure, use 2507/P100 filler metal.
