Corrosion Resistance
The 410 stainless steel exhibits remarkable resistance to dry air, fresh water, mild bases and acids, various foods, steam, and hot gases, making it a versatile material for numerous applications.
To achieve optimal heat and corrosion resistance, the 410 stainless steel must be hardened. It performs best when the surface is smooth.
Heat Resistance
This material shows excellent resistance to scaling at temperatures up to approximately 650°C. However, it is generally not recommended for use in the temperature range of 400 to 580°C, as mechanical properties can diminish.
Heat Treatment
For full annealing, heat the material to 815-900°C, allow it to cool slowly in the furnace to 600°C, and then air cool. This process ensures optimal material performance.
For process annealing, heat the material to 650-760°C and then air cool.
Welding
The 410 stainless steel can be easily welded using all standard methods. Preheating to 150-260°C and post-weld annealing are recommended to minimize the risk of cracking.
