The dual-phase microstructure of austenite and ferrite surpasses traditional austenitic or ferritic stainless steels in mechanical performance. Corrosion Resistance: A key feature of S32205 rod is its resistance to various forms of corrosion. Duplex 2205 Round Bar is a remarkable duplex ferritic-austenitic stainless steel bar containing 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 5-6% nickel. As the most commonly employed duplex stainless steel grade, it boasts a yield strength that is twice that of standard austenitic grades. Besides, it possesses exceptional fatigue strength and offers outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking, crevice, pitting, erosion, and general corrosion, even under severe conditions.
Most Duplex 2205 producers recommend a maximum hot forming temperature between 2010 and 2100°F (1100 to 1150°C). Non-compact shapes may have cooler edges than the bulk, increasing the risk of cracking in cooler regions.
Duplex 2205 boasts exceptional formability across various fabrication methods. Despite its superior strength, which can present challenges, our advanced equipment ensures precise handling. Allowances for increased spring-back due to Duplex 2205's high strength are expertly managed, guaranteeing optimal performance.
Machining Duplex stainless steel bar 2205 requires more effort compared to 300 series austenitic stainless steel. Higher cutting forces result in quicker tool wear. To achieve the best results, follow these guidelines: A) Utilize a robust, powerful machine with a strong tool and workpiece mount; B) Maintain short tool extensions to reduce vibration; C) Ensure the tool nose radius is minimal, maintaining a sharp carbide edge with adequate strength; D) Sequence machining operations to keep the depth of cut below the work-hardened layer from previous operations.

Absolutely, we offer SS grinding bars and rods with precise dimensions, exceptional roundness, and straightness. These features surpass standard stainless steel polished bars. However, please note that the processing cost is higher.
