Leading Stainless Steel Sheet Suppliers in China
Daxun can provide upon request: Alloy 17-4 (H900, UNS S17400) plates.
CORROSION RESISTANCE:
- Our plates offer superior resistance to corrosive attacks compared to standard hardenable stainless steels.
- Their performance is comparable to Alloy 304 in most media, making them highly reliable.
- They are corrosion-resistant in various chemical, petroleum, dairy, and food process industries.
- However, they may be subject to crevice or pitting attack if exposed to stagnant seawater for extended periods.
WELDABILITY:
- Easily welded using most common fusion and resistance methods, ensuring strong and reliable joints.
- Not suitable for oxyacetylene welding, ensuring the integrity of the material.
- Typically, no pre-heating is required, streamlining the welding process.
- Maintain an inter-pass temperature limit of 248°F for optimal results.
- Achieve superior toughness in welds through a full heat treatment process.
ELEVATED TEMPERATURE USE:
- Exhibits excellent oxidation resistance up to approximately 1100°F, ensuring durability.
- Prolonged exposure to high temperatures may reduce toughness in precipitation-hardened conditions.
PROCESSING - HOT FORMING:
- For forging, heat uniformly to 2150-2200°F and hold for 30 minutes per inch.
- For optimal hot forming, maintain a temperature range of 650-900°F while the steel remains austenitic.
- To ensure optimal hardening, re-heat treat forgings at 1875-1925°F.
- Cool the forgings to below 90°F to achieve grain refinement.
PROCESSING - COLD FORMING:
- Alloy 17-4 is suitable for mild cold forming due to its hardness in the annealed condition.
- For severe cold working, heat treat the material to condition H1150 to prevent cracking.
- A bend radius exceeding 7T is often required for forming.
- Enhance stress corrosion resistance post cold forming by re-aging at the precipitation-hardening temperature.
MACHINABILITY:
- Machinable in both solution-treated and precipitation-hardening conditions, providing versatility.
Mechanical Properties
- Type 17-4PH stainless steel boasts excellent mechanical properties, offering high strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance. It's a cost-effective choice compared to many high nickel non-ferrous alloys.
