It exhibits outstanding resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, excellent thermal conductivity, and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. Duplex 2507 (UNS S32750) is an elite super duplex stainless steel composed of 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel. Tailored for demanding environments requiring immense strength and superior corrosion resistance, it is perfect for chemical process, petrochemical, and seawater equipment. This steel is highly resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking, offers high thermal conductivity, and boasts a low coefficient of thermal expansion. General Corrosion
For optimal hot working, 2507 should be processed between 1875°F and 2250°F, followed by a solution anneal at a minimum of 1925°F and a rapid air or water quench, ensuring structural integrity.
Cold working 2507 aligns with most standard stainless steel forming methods. Due to its higher yield strength and lower ductility compared to austenitic steels, fabricators may require enhanced forming forces, larger bending radii, and greater allowances for springback. Techniques like deep drawing and stretch forming are more challenging than with austenitic stainless steel. For deformations exceeding 10% cold work, a solution anneal and quench is recommended for optimal performance.
Post hot or cold forming, 2507 should undergo solution annealing at a minimum of 1925°F, followed by a rapid air or water quench. To achieve peak corrosion resistance, heat-treated products should be pickled and rinsed thoroughly.
2507 boasts exceptional weldability and can be joined to itself or other materials using methods such as SMAW, GTAW, PAW, FCW, or SAW. For optimal duplex weld structures, employ 2507/P100 filler metal.
