Its standout feature is a yield strength ranging from 400-550MPa, twice that of ordinary stainless steel, making it ideal for material savings and reduced manufacturing costs. In terms of corrosion resistance, especially in environments such as seawater and high chloride ion content, duplex stainless steel surpasses ordinary austenitic stainless steel, matching the resistance of high-alloy austenitic stainless steel. Surface Description of Stainless Steel Plate

No.1 After hot rolling, heat treatment, pickling or other equivalent treatment is applied.
No.2D Annealing and pickling are performed after cold rolling; material is soft with surface of silver-white luster; used for general applications and deep drawing.
No.2B After 2D finish, skin pass rolling is performed to obtain a more suitable luster; the surface becomes very exquisite; used for general applications.
No.3 Intermediate 100-120 grit finish; used for applications in which surface polishing is performed after shaping.
No.4 General 150-180 grit finish; used for restaurants and kitchen equipment and tools.
#240 240 grit finish; used when a finer finish than No. 4 is required; typically for restaurants and kitchen equipment and tools.
#320 320 grit finish polished product.
HL This finish is performed by continuous linear polishing using an abrasive of appropriate grain size; mainly used for architectural applications.
BA Achieved by performing bright annealing after cold rolling and then skin pass rolling to obtain even greater reflectance; provides excellent corrosion resistance; used for household appliances, kitchen equipment, and automobiles.
8K Through multiple grinding, it achieves very high brightness and smoothness, like a mirror.

Pitting Corrosion

  • Various testing methods can assess the pitting resistance of steels in chloride-containing solutions, ensuring robust performance in corrosive environments.

Crevice Corrosion

  • The 2507 stainless steel demonstrates exceptional resistance to crevice corrosion, maintaining integrity where other materials may fail.

Hot forming

For optimal hot working, process the 2507 between 1875°F and 2250°F, followed by solution annealing at a minimum of 1925°F and a rapid quench with air or water to secure its properties.

Cold Forming

Cold forming the 2507 is compatible with most standard stainless steel processes. Due to its higher yield strength and lower ductility compared to austenitic steels, more forming force, larger bend radii, and greater allowances for springback are necessary. Deep drawing and stretch forming are more challenging. If deformation exceeds 10%, a solution anneal and quench is recommended.

Heat Treatment

After hot or cold forming, the 2507 should be solution annealed at no less than 1925°F followed by a rapid quench to achieve peak corrosion resistance. Post-heat-treatment pickling and rinsing are advised for optimal results.

Welding

The 2507 stainless steel offers excellent weldability, suitable for various methods including SMAW, GTAW, PAW, FCW, and SAW. Using 2507/P100 filler metal ensures a desired duplex weld structure.
2507 does not require special treatment except to prevent condensation on cold metal. The Interpass
