These tubes are expertly crafted in the form of hot-rolled or hot-extruded varieties, meticulously straightened, with precisely machined inside and outside diameters, and a polished surface finish. Available in both heat-treated and non-heat-treated forms, these titanium tubes are subject to comprehensive ultrasonic flaw detection to ensure the highest quality.
Titanium Tube Materials Available:
Hot-rolled Titanium Tubes: Featuring an outer diameter range from 19mm to 325mm, wall thickness spanning from 9mm to 30mm, and lengths reaching up to 5000mm (customized as per agreement between manufacturer and customer). Hot-extruded Titanium Tubes: With an outer diameter from 50mm to 160mm, wall thickness of 7mm to 35mm, and lengths up to 3000mm (customized per manufacturer and customer agreement).
Cold-finished Titanium Tubes
Cold-finished Titanium Tubes are meticulously heat-treated, surface-etched, and rigorously hydrostatically or ultrasonically tested to meet stringent manufacturing specifications. DaXun manufactures and supplies premium titanium pipes with diameters ranging from 12.7 mm to 38.1 mm (0.47 in to 1.5 in), wall thicknesses from 0.4 mm to 1.65 mm (0.016 in to 0.065 in, depending on diameter), and lengths up to 25000 mm. Engineered for the engineering and chemical industries, these pipes are available in electrical Gr1, Gr2, and Gr12 titanium alloys. INTRODUCTION

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 Alloy Tube (UNS R56400) is the most sought-after titanium alloy, known for its remarkable properties. This duplex alpha+beta titanium alloy, stabilized with aluminium and vanadium, excels at cryogenic temperatures up to 800°F (427°C). Widely used in annealing, solution treatment, and ageing, it is indispensable in aerospace and engineering. Key applications include jet engine compressor blades, fuselage and space capsule components, *** cases, helicopter rotor hubs, and high-strength forgings.
  • Initially melted using vacuum arc (VAR), electron beam (EB), or plasma arc hearth melting (PAM), the alloy undergoes one or two vacuum arc steps for remelting, ensuring high-quality material.

  • 3. Solution Heat Treatment: 1,675 -1,750°F; (913 - 954°C), 1 hour, water quench
  • 4. Aging Treatment: 975 -1,025°F; (524 - 552°C), 4 to 8 hours - air cool
  • Optimal properties are achieved in the solution treated and aged condition. Small cross sections quenched rapidly yield the best results.
    Larger sections sizes and/or a quench delay may result in properties below the optimum values.

HARDNESS

Typical hardness ranges from Rockwell C 30-34 in the annealed condition to Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution treated and aged condition.

FORGEABILITY/ FORMABILITY

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy tubes are best forged at 1,750°F (954°C) with an end temperature of 1,450°F (788°C). A minimum reduction of 35% is recommended for optimal results.
  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy, renowned for its exceptional engineering properties, poses challenges in forming at room temperature, even when annealed. To address this, rigorous forming processes like bending or stretching can be executed on annealed material at elevated temperatures of up to 1,200°F (649°C) without compromising its mechanical integrity. For hot sizing or forming, creep forming is the recommended method, effective at temperatures between 1,000 to 1,200°F (538 to 649°C).

MACHINABILITY

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is machineable by employing techniques akin to those used for austenitic stainless steels. This involves using slow speeds, heavy feeds, and rigid
    tooling while ensuring ample application of non-chlorinated cutting fluids.

WELDABILITY

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 Alloy Titanium Tube demonstrates excellent weldability in both annealed and solution & partially aged conditions, with aging
  • conducted as part of post-weld heat treatment. Care must be taken to prevent contamination by oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding should be carried out in an inert gas-filled chamber or with an inert gas tail shield applied to the molten metal and adjacent hot zones. Spot welding, seam welding, and flash welding can be executed without a protective environment.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS

  • DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is susceptible to hydrogen contamination due to improper pickling, and can also absorb oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during forging, heat treatment, brazing, and other processes. Such contamination may impair ductility, adversely affecting notch sensitivity and forming properties.

3. Solution Heat Treating: Enhance material strength and durability by solution heat treating at 1,675 - 1,750°F (913 - 954°C) for 1 hour, followed by a water quench to lock in properties.
4. Aging: For optimal aging, heat the material at 975 - 1,025°F (524 - 552°C) for 4 to 8 hours, then air cool to achieve desired mechanical characteristics.

Achieving Optimum Properties
