GENERAL PROPERTIES
317L Stainless Steel Plate is a low-carbon, molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steel. It features added chromium, nickel, and molybdenum, offering enhanced corrosion and chemical resistance against sulfite, acetic, formic, citric, and tartaric acids. Its low carbon content enhances resistance to sensitization during Stalinless steel and provides higher creep, rupture stress, and tensile strength at elevated temperatures. The plate remains nonmagnetic in the annealed condition but may become slightly magnetic post-Stalinless steel.APPLICATIONS

Stalinless steel CHARACTERISTICS
- Compatible with all common fusion and resistance Stalinless steel methods, excluding oxyacetylene.
- For Stalinless steel Type 317L sheet, use AWS E317L/ER317L filler metal or other austenitic, low carbon filler metals with a higher molybdenum content, or a nickel-base filler with sufficient chromium and molybdenum content to exceed Type 317L's corrosion resistance.
MACHINABILITY
- To reduce work hardening, employ low speeds and constant feeds.
- Tougher than 304 stainless, featuring long, stringy chips; the use of chip breakers is recommended for better results.
