RESISTANCE

  • Offers resistance to thermal fatigue and cyclic heating.
  • Widely used in environments where sulfur dioxide gas is present at elevated temperatures.
  • Continuous use in the 425-860°C range is not recommended due to carbide precipitation, if subsequent aqueous corrosion resistance is required.
  • Typically used at temperatures starting from about 800 or 900°C, which is above the effective temperature range of 304H and 321.

  • Its weldability is typically equivalent to grades 304 and 304L.
  • Special considerations are necessary to account for its higher coefficient of thermal expansion to prevent warping and distortion.
