Grade 2 Titanium Welded Tube: Diameter ranges from 6.0mm to 1219mm, wall thickness ranges from 0.3mm to 30mm (depending on diameter), lengths up to 25,000mm, made from Gr1 titanium tube. These tubes are meticulously crafted from flat-rolled billets (tube blanks) using advanced electric tube welding machines and automatic tungsten inert gas (argon) welding. They are heat treated on the mill line. Rigorous mechanical tests, precise geometric measurements, and comprehensive 100% ultrasonic and eddy current testing, along with pneumatic or hydrostatic testing, ensure the highest quality. The finished tubes are tailored and packaged to meet customer specifications. This state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, paired with cutting-edge inspection and testing equipment, guarantees that our thin-wall welded tubes strictly comply with ASTM B 338 and ASME SB 338 specifications.

CP 2 grade titanium tubes are prized for their low density and high strength-to-weight ratio, making them perfect for applications that demand weight reduction without compromising strength. They are cold formable, weldable using conventional TIG and MIG processes, and require inert gas shielding to prevent embrittlement during welding.

Crystal Structure

At ambient temperatures, the ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium tube boasts an alpha (hexagonal close-packed) crystal structure, akin to commercially pure titanium grades 1 and 3. Upon heating to approximately 885°C (1625°F), it transitions to a beta (body-centered cubic) structure. This transformation temperature can vary depending on impurities or alloying elements, which also create two distinct temperature zones: the alpha transformation zone (below 890°C (1635°F)) and the beta transformation zone (above 913°C (1675°F)), with both alpha and beta forms coexisting in between.

Ensuring continuous perimeters at all stages, the process involves sponge titanium vacuum arc melting, ingot blanking, cleaning, cutting, hot extrusion or oblique rolling + piercing, degreasing, drying, cutting, online annealing and straightening, pickling, multiple cold rolling, degreasing, drying, vacuum annealing, straightening, cutting, pickling, final inspection, marking (DAXUN), and packaging.

Grade 2 Titanium Welded Pipe Manufacturing Process

Daxun's ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium welded pipes are crafted from annealed flat-rolled steel plates or strips via an automatic arc welding (TIG) process. The production stages include uncoiling, shearing, butt welding, cleaning, pipe forming, TIG welding, eddy current testing, pre-sizing, annealing, precision reducing and sizing, straightening, eddy current testing, caliper marking, cutting, ultrasonic testing, hydrostatic testing, final inspection, and packaging. Each welded pipe undergoes at least one stress relief heat treatment post welding. Daxun ensures that no filler materials are used during welding.

DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 (UNS R56400) stands as the most popular and versatile titanium alloy available. This duplex alpha+beta titanium alloy ingeniously combines aluminum as the alpha stabilizer and vanadium as the beta stabilizer, crafting a high-strength marvel. Capable of enduring low temperatures around 800°F (427°C), ATI Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy excels in applications such as annealing, solution treating, and aging. 3. Solution Heat Treating: 1,675 - 1,750°F (913 - 954°C) for 1 hour, then rapidly quenched in water.
4. Aging: 975 - 1,025°F (524 - 552°C) for 4 to 8 hours, followed by air cooling.

Optimum Properties

Rapid quenching of small cross-sections yields optimum properties in the solution treated and aged condition, while larger sections and delayed quenching may result in suboptimal properties.

Hardness

Typical hardness in the annealed state is Rockwell C 30-34, and in the solution and aged state, it reaches approximately Rockwell C 35-39.

Forgeability/Formability

The DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 is forged at 1,750°F (954°C) with a final temperature of 1,450°F (788°C). A reduction of at least 35% is recommended to achieve optimal results.

Forming DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 Titanium Tube at room temperature is challenging, even in the annealed state. Severe forming operations such as bending or stretching are best performed on annealed material at temperatures up to 1,200°F (649°C) without altering its mechanical properties.
