AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution Treated and Aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
In solution-treated and aged conditions, rapid quenching of smaller sections yields optimal properties. Larger sections or delayed quenching might result in suboptimal properties.
In the annealed state, typical hardness is Rockwell C 30-34. In the solution and aged state, it is about Rockwell C 35-39.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar can be expertly machined using methods tailored for austenitic stainless steel. Employ slow machining speeds, high feeds, rigid tools, and ample non-chlorinated cutting fluids to ensure precision.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod offers excellent weldability whether in the annealed condition or the solution and partially aged state. Post weld heat treatment completes the aging process. To avoid contamination, precautions against oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen are essential. Fusion welding can be conducted in an inert gas-filled chamber or with inert gas shielding for the molten metal and adjacent heated zones. Spot, seam, and flash welding are possible without protective atmospheres.
Attention to the purity of Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod is crucial. Contamination by hydrogen from poor pickling and by oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during forging, heat treating, or brazing can reduce ductility, negatively affecting notch sensitivity and forming characteristics.
We meticulously produce bars tailored to meet your specific requirements.
Our bars feature excellent surface finish and straightness, perfect roundness, and the tightest diameter tolerances (according to ISO 286-2 up to h5). Available in straightened, ground, and polished conditions.

Titanium should not be used with strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous ***.
The general corrosion rates for Grade 2 titanium in various media are shown in Table 1. CP titanium demonstrates excellent corrosion resistance to a wide range of environments, including:
CP titanium offers superior crevice corrosion resistance in salt solutions compared to stainless steels. It will not exhibit crevice corrosion at temperatures below 80°C (176°F), regardless of pH, even under super-chlorinated conditions.
Grade 2 titanium boasts unparalleled resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in hot chloride solutions and remains impervious to SCC even in seawater environments.
Titanium exhibits superior resistance to erosion in swiftly moving
seawater, handling velocities up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec) without significant deterioration. Even the presence of abrasive particles, like sand, barely affects its corrosion resistance.
Titanium does not significantly absorb hydrogen when exposed to seawater, even at elevated temperatures. Hydrogen absorption typically occurs only under the following conditions:
Titanium alloys exhibit unique immunity to all forms of microbiologically influenced corrosion. Though non-toxic to marine life, biofouling in seawater can be managed by chlorination or increasing water velocity through the heat exchanger.
Titanium maintains its fatigue performance even in seawater, showing no decrease in fatigue endurance limits or fatigue *** growth rates compared to tests conducted in air.
In the galvanic series, titanium is positioned near the noble metals like stainless steel, acting as the cathode when coupled with other metals. While titanium remains unaffected by galvanic corrosion, it can accelerate the corrosion of the anodic metal. Pairing titanium with more noble metals like graphite further enhances its passivity.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod, unlike many other materials, does not degrade in fatigue properties in seawater. Its fatigue endurance limits and *** growth rates are consistent between air and seawater tests.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rod is highly weldable with the right precautions. Due to titanium's reactivity, an inert gas shield is required on both the OD and ID of the rod. The material must also be free from any grease or oil contamination.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod is typically welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire. Low heat input is advisable to minimize the heat-affected zone. Post-weld heat treatment is generally not necessary.
