Duplex 2507 (UNS S32750) is a super duplex stainless steel with a precise composition of 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel. It's meticulously designed for applications requiring significant strength and outstanding corrosion resistance, such as chemical process, petrochemical, and seawater equipment. The steel offers remarkable resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, high thermal conductivity, and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The high levels of chromium, molybdenum, and nickel ensure excellent resistance to pitting, crevices, and general corrosion.

General Corrosion
To hot work the 2507 stainless steel plate, maintain temperatures between 1875°F and 2250°F. Following this, a solution anneal at a minimum of 1925°F should be conducted, followed by rapid air or water quenching to achieve optimal properties.
The 2507 stainless steel plate can be cold worked using standard stainless steel forming processes. Due to its higher yield strength and lower ductility compared to austenitic steels, fabricators may need to apply greater forming forces, use larger bending radii, and allow for a greater margin for springback. Deep drawing, stretch forming, and similar procedures are more challenging with 2507 than with austenitic stainless steel. For deformation exceeding 10%, a solution anneal followed by quenching is recommended.
Post hot or cold forming, the 2507 stainless steel plate should undergo solution annealing and rapid quenching. Solution annealing must be performed at a minimum temperature of 1925°F, followed by prompt air or water quenching. For optimal corrosion resistance, heat-treated products should be pickled and thoroughly rinsed.
The 2507 stainless steel plate boasts excellent weldability, allowing it to be joined to itself or other materials using various welding techniques like SMAW, GTAW, PAW, FCW, or SAW. To achieve the desired duplex weld structure, employ 2507/P100 filler metal during welding.
