AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution treated and aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
In the solution treated and aged condition, rapid quenching of small sections ensures optimal properties. Larger sections or delayed quenching may result in reduced properties.
Typical hardness ranges from Rockwell C 30-34 in the annealed condition to Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution-treated and aged condition.
Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar can be machined using techniques suitable for austenitic stainless steel, involving slow machining speeds, high feeds, rigid tools, and copious amounts of non-chlorinated cutting fluids.
Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod is highly weldable in both the annealed and solution-partially aged conditions, with aging achievable post-weld heat treatment. It is crucial to avoid contamination from oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding is best performed in an inert gas environment, ensuring protection for molten metal and adjacent heated zones. Spot, seam, and flash welding can be executed without a protective atmosphere.
Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod is susceptible to hydrogen contamination from improper pickling and to oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon contamination during forging, heat treating, and brazing. Such contamination can reduce ductility, adversely affecting notch sensitivity and forming characteristics.
We produce bars tailored to your specifications.
We ensure excellent surface and straightness, perfect roundness, and the tightest diameter tolerances (according to ISO 286-2 up to h5). Available in straightened, ground, and polished conditions.

Titanium should not be used with strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous ***.
The general corrosion rates for Grade 2 titanium in various media are shown in Table 1. CP titanium exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments, including:
CP titanium offers superior resistance to crevice corrosion in salt solutions compared to stainless steels. CP titanium will not exhibit crevice corrosion at temperatures below 80 °C (176°F) regardless of pH, even under super chlorinated conditions.
Grade 2 titanium provides excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in hot chloride solutions and is immune to SCC in seawater.
Titanium demonstrates unparalleled resistance to erosion in dynamic environments.
In seawater with velocities reaching up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec), titanium exhibits minimal degradation. The addition of abrasive particles, such as sand, has a negligible impact on its corrosion resistance.
Titanium does not significantly absorb hydrogen from seawater, even under elevated temperatures. Hydrogen absorption typically only occurs when all of the following conditions are present:
Titanium alloys exhibit remarkable immunity to microbiologically influenced corrosion. Although they are non-toxic to marine organisms, allowing for biofouling in seawater, this can be mitigated through chlorination or increased water velocity in heat exchangers.
Titanium stands out among materials by maintaining its fatigue performance in seawater. Both fatigue endurance limits and *** growth rates are consistent whether tested in air or seawater.
Positioned towards the noble end of the galvanic series near stainless steels, titanium usually acts as the cathode when coupled with other metals. It remains unaffected by galvanic corrosion but may accelerate the corrosion of the coupled metal. When paired with more noble metals like graphite, titanium's passivity is further enhanced.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod exhibits no degradation in fatigue properties in seawater. Its fatigue endurance limits and *** growth rates remain unchanged whether in air or seawater.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rod is highly weldable if proper precautions are followed. Due to titanium's reactivity, an inert gas shield must cover both the OD and ID of the rod. Additionally, the material must be free from grease or oil contamination.
Grade 2 Titanium Rods are typically welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire. Low heat input is recommended to minimize the heat-affected zone. Post-weld heat treatment is generally not required.
