Grade 5 titanium alloy rod (Titanium Aluminum Vanadium Alloy) is the most widely utilized α-β titanium alloy, making up 50% of global titanium alloy usage. Notably, Grade 5 titanium alloy is fully heat-treatable and withstands temperatures up to 400°C. It boasts low density (4.43 kg/dm³), exceptional corrosion resistance, and impressive mechanical strength. With high tensile strength at ambient temperatures and superior creep resistance up to 300°C, it provides robust *** and fatigue resistance. The age-hardening capability of the 6AL-4V titanium alloy rod makes it ideal for a variety of demanding applications, including fasteners and components in harsh environments. Its excellent machinability and weldability further broaden its industrial applications.
DAXUN® Ti Grade 5 Titanium Alloy Bar (6AL-4V) Offers:
Daxun delivers top-quality titanium bars with high performance, tailored to customer specifications:
Daxun conducts extensive quality assurance tests including mechanical tests (area tensile), chemical analysis, material positive identification (PMI test), micro and macro testing, intergranular corrosion (IGC) test, ultrasonic flaw detection, pitting resistance test, hardness test, and expansion test. These thorough tests ensure that Grade 2 Titanium Rod and Grade 2 Titanium Round Bar materials meet the required application standards. During production, we meticulously measure the diameter, thickness, and surface quality.

AMS 4928 - Titanium Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Titanium Bars, Forgings (Solution Treated and Aged)
AMS 4967 - Titanium Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
Rapid quenching of smaller sections in the solution-treated and aged condition yields optimum properties. Larger sections or delayed quenching may result in suboptimal properties.
The typical hardness ranges from Rockwell C 30-34 in the annealed condition to Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution-treated and aged condition.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar can be efficiently machined using austenitic stainless steel machining methods. This requires slow machining speeds, high feeds, rigid tools, and a generous application of non-chlorinated cutting fluids.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod is readily weldable in both the annealed condition and the solution and partially aged condition, with aging achieved during post-weld heat treatment. Care must be taken to avoid contamination by oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding can be executed in an inert gas-filled chamber or with inert gas to weld the molten metal and adjacent heated zones, utilizing a tail shield. Additionally, spot, seam, and flash welding are feasible without the necessity of a protective atmosphere.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod may risk contamination by hydrogen from improper pickling, and by oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during forging, heat treating, or brazing. Such contamination could lead to reduced ductility, negatively impacting notch sensitivity and forming characteristics.

Titanium should not be used with strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous ***.
Table 1 demonstrates the general corrosion rates for Grade 2 titanium in various media. CP titanium shows excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments including:
CP titanium offers superior resistance to crevice corrosion in salt solutions compared to stainless steels. CP titanium does not suffer from crevice corrosion at temperatures below 80 °C (176°F), regardless of pH, even under highly chlorinated conditions.
Grade 2 titanium exhibits outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in hot chloride solutions and remains impervious to SCC even in seawater environments.
Titanium demonstrates superior resistance to erosion in high-velocity, flowing environments.
In seawater with velocities reaching up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec), titanium shows minimal material degradation. Even when abrasive particles like sand are present, the corrosion impact remains minimal.
Titanium does not significantly absorb hydrogen when exposed to seawater, regardless of higher temperatures. Hydride formation typically requires three conditions:
Titanium alloys are uniquely immune to microbiologically influenced corrosion. Although non-toxic to marine life, biofouling can occur, which can be minimized with chlorination or increased water velocity through heat exchangers.
Titanium maintains its fatigue performance in seawater, with endurance limits and *** growth rates comparable to those tested in air.
Titanium, positioned near the noble end of the galvanic series close to stainless steels, typically acts as the cathode when paired with other metals, thereby avoiding galvanic corrosion while potentially accelerating corrosion in the coupled metal. Pairing with more noble metals, like graphite, further enhances titanium's passivity.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod displays no reduction in fatigue properties in seawater, maintaining equivalent endurance limits and *** growth rates as when tested in air.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rod is highly weldable with appropriate precautions. An inert gas shield is essential for both the outer and inner diameters to counter titanium's reactivity. Ensure the material is free from grease or oil contaminants.
Manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire, is typically used for Grade 2 Titanium Rods. Low heat input reduces the heat-affected zone size, and post-weld heat treatment is generally unnecessary.
