Daxun produces high-quality titanium bars with superior performance and can also manufacture according to customer specifications:

  • Titanium ingots undergo extensive processes including heat treatment, machining, immersion ultrasonic testing, mechanical properties testing, and macro & microstructural inspection. The production methods include: hot-rolled titanium bars for high efficiency and stable performance; forged titanium bars for flexible sizing with multi-fire forging to enhance comprehensive performance; and cold-drawn titanium bars for small-sized, high-precision needs. HEAT TREATMENT

  • For applications requiring high hardness, tensile strength, and fatigue strength, annealing can be performed at 1,700-1,900°F (927-1,038°C).
    DAXUN 6-4™ Grade 5 alloy offers versatile heat treatment options.
  • 1. Anneal: 1,275-1,400°F (691-760°C), ½ to 2 hours, air or furnace cool
  • 2. Stress Relief Anneal: 1,000-1,200°F (538-649°C), 1 to 8 hours, air or furnace cool
  • 3. Solution Heat Treat: 1,675-1,750°F (913-954°C), 1 hour, water quench
  • 4. Aging: 975-1,025°F (524-552°C), 4 to 8 hours, air cool

In the solution-treated and aged condition, rapid quenching of small sections yields optimal properties. Larger sections and/or delayed quenching may result in properties that are less than optimal.

HARDNESS

Typical hardness in the annealed condition is Rockwell C 30-34, and approximately Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution and aged condition.

Forgeability/Formability

  • Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar is forged at 1,750°F (954°C) with a final forging temperature of 1,450°F (788°C). For optimal properties, a minimum of 35% reduction is recommended.
  • The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar is known for its formidable strength, yet it presents challenges in forming at ambient temperatures even when annealed. For intricate shaping operations like bending or stretching, the material can undergo these processes at temperatures soaring up to 1,200°F (649°C) without compromising its mechanical integrity.
