Grade 2 Titanium Rod is the workhorse among titanium alloy rods, with a reasonable strength-to-density ratio perfect for weight-sensitive applications. As a commercially pure (CP) titanium alloy, it offers the optimal balance of strength and weight, boasting excellent ductility and high impact strength. It welds easily and remains extremely corrosion-resistant in oxidizing conditions, alkaline media, brine solutions, weakly reducing environments, and wet ***. With remarkable resistance to seawater and saline solutions, the low density and high strength-to-weight ratio make Grade 2 Titanium Rod an ideal choice for a myriad of applications.

AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution treated and aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
In the solution treated and aged condition, rapid quenching of smaller sections yields optimal properties, whereas larger sections and/or delayed quenching might result in less than optimal properties.
Typical hardness in the annealed condition ranges from Rockwell C 30-34, while in the solution and aged condition, it increases to about Rockwell C 35-39.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar exhibits exceptional machinability using austenitic stainless steel techniques. This involves employing slow machining speeds, high feed rates, and rigid tools. The process is further optimized with the extensive use of non-chlorinated cutting fluids to ensure precision and quality.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod is highly weldable in both annealed and solution-aged conditions, with aging taking place during post-weld heat treatment. It is essential to prevent contamination by oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding should be conducted in an inert gas-filled chamber or with inert gas shielding the weld zone. Techniques such as spot, seam, and flash welding may be executed without requiring a protective atmosphere.
Special care must be taken with the Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod to avoid contamination. Improper pickling can introduce hydrogen, while oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon can permeate during forging, heat treating, or brazing. Such contamination can result in reduced ductility, affecting notch sensitivity and forming characteristics adversely.
Our bars are meticulously crafted to meet your exact specifications.

Caution: Titanium should be avoided in strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous *** environments.
The general corrosion rates for Grade 2 titanium are detailed in Table 1. CP Titanium showcases exceptional corrosion resistance in numerous environments such as:
CP Titanium displays remarkable resistance to crevice corrosion in salt solutions, outperforming stainless steels. It remains crevice corrosion-free at temperatures below 80°C (176°F), even in highly chlorinated environments.
Grade 2 titanium offers superb resistance to stress corrosion cracking in hot chloride solutions and is entirely immune to SCC in seawater.
Titanium demonstrates outstanding resistance to erosion in flowing environments.
Experience the resilience of our materials withstanding seawater velocities up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec) with negligible impact. Even in the presence of abrasive particles like sand, the corrosion resistance remains robust.
Titanium's integrity remains intact with no significant hydrogen absorption when exposed to seawater, even under elevated temperatures. Hydrogen absorption typically occurs only under the following precise conditions:
Titanium alloys exhibit remarkable immunity to microbiologically influenced corrosion. Despite no toxicity towards marine organisms, biofouling can occur in seawater. Effective mitigation strategies include chlorination or increasing the water velocity through heat exchangers.
Unlike many other materials, titanium's fatigue performance remains unaffected by seawater. Fatigue endurance limits and *** growth rates are consistent in both air and seawater environments.
Positioned towards the noble end of the galvanic series near stainless steels, titanium generally acts as a cathode when paired with other metals. This ensures titanium remains unaffected by galvanic corrosion while potentially accelerating the corrosion of the coupled metal. Pairing with noble metals like graphite further enhances titanium's passivity.
Grade 2 Titanium Rod showcases exceptional fatigue properties, with no degradation in the presence of seawater. Whether tested in air or seawater, fatigue endurance limits and *** growth rates remain consistent.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rod offers excellent weldability when appropriate precautions are taken. Due to titanium's reactivity, an inert gas shield must protect both the OD and ID of the rod, ensuring it is free from grease or oil contamination.
Typically, Grade 2 Titanium Rod is welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire. Employing low heat input helps minimize the heat-affected zone. Post-weld heat treatment is generally not required for Titanium Rod.
