Corrosion Resistance
410 stainless steel demonstrates exceptional resistance to dry air, fresh water, mild bases and acids, foods, steam, and hot gases.
For maximum heat and corrosion resistance, it is essential to harden the 410 stainless steel. Optimal performance is achieved when the surface is smooth.
Heat Resistance
This steel grade offers good resistance to scaling up to approximately 650°C. However, it is generally not recommended for use at temperatures between 400 and 580°C due to reduced mechanical properties.
Heat Treatment
Fully anneal at temperatures between 815-900°C, followed by a slow furnace cool to 600°C, and then air cool.
Process anneal within the range of 650-760°C and then air cool.
Welding
This steel can be easily welded using all standard methods. Preheating to 150-260°C and post weld annealing are crucial to minimize the risk of cracking.
Stainless Steel Plate Surface Description

| #240 | 240 grit finish; used when a finer finish than No. 4 is required; typically for restaurants and kitchen equipment and tools. |

| HL | This finish is performed by continuous linear polishing using an abrasive of appropriate grain size; mainly used for architectural applications. |
| BA | Achieved by performing bright annealing after cold rolling and then skin pass rolling to obtain even greater reflectance; provides excellent corrosion resistance; used for household appliances, kitchen equipment, and automobiles. |
