Titanium Tube Manufacturing Types Titanium Welded Tube
Tubular products made from strip are roll formed and fusion welded along a longitudinal seam. The innovative welding processes employed by Daxun do not use any filler metals, ensuring superior integrity and performance during the welding process.

Titanium Welded & Drawn Tubing
Tubular products are meticulously welded and then redrawn to achieve a precise final size. The welded and drawn technique is ideal for producing heavy wall-to-diameter tubes that cannot be welded directly to size but still benefit from the lower cost savings compared to seamless tubes. Additionally, all Daxun welded and drawn tubes undergo a bright annealing process to enhance quality.

Titanium Seamless Tubing
Tubular products are skillfully drawn from tube hollows, created by piercing a billet or through a hot extrusion process. Seamless tubing is perfect for very heavy diameter-to-wall ratios and offers exceptional outside dimensional tolerances, ensuring premium quality and performance.

Similar to machining austenitic stainless steels, the cutting process should involve deep and continuous cuts with slow feeds and speeds.

Stock Availability

Daxun Alloys maintains a wide range of CP 2 Grade Titanium Seamless and Welded Pipes in various sizes.

Weight Reduction

CP 2 Grade titanium tubes, with their low density and high strength-to-weight ratio, are ideal for applications demanding weight reduction without compromising strength. They are cold formable, exhibit good ductility, and can be welded using conventional TIG and MIG processes, although inert gas shielding is essential to prevent weld zone embrittlement.

Crystal Structure

At room temperature, ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium tube features an alpha (hexagonal close-packed) crystal structure, similar to commercially pure titanium grades 1 and 3. Around 885°C [1625°F], it transforms to a beta (body-centered cubic) structure. This transformation temperature can vary with impurities or alloying additions. Alloying elements also create two temperature zones: the alpha transformation zone (all alpha below) and the beta transformation zone (all beta above). Between these temperatures, both alpha and beta forms coexist. Typical transformation temperatures for Grade 2 titanium are 890°C (1635°F) and 913°C (1675°F) for alpha and beta, respectively.

Grade 2 Titanium Seamless Pipe Manufacturing Process

Daxun's ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium seamless tubes are crafted from hollow blanks through the hot extrusion or oblique rolling and piercing process, followed by multiple cold rolling stages. The seamless tubes maintain continuous perimeters throughout production. The comprehensive manufacturing process includes: vacuum arc melting of sponge titanium, blanking to create hollow blanks, cleaning, cutting and feeding, hot extrusion or oblique rolling and piercing, degreasing, drying, cutting, online annealing and straightening, pickling, multiple cold rolling, degreasing, drying, vacuum annealing, straightening, cutting, pickling, final inspection, marking (DAXUN), and packaging.

Grade 2 Titanium Welded Pipe Manufacturing Process

Daxun's ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium welded pipe showcases superior craftsmanship, created from annealed flat-rolled steel plate or steel strip using an automatic arc welding (TIG) process. The comprehensive production process entails: uncoiling titanium plates, shearing, butt welding, cleaning, pipe forming, TIG welding, eddy current testing, pre-sizing, annealing, precision reducing and sizing, straightening, caliper marking, cutting, ultrasonic testing, hydrostatic testing, final inspection, and packaging. Every welded pipe undergoes at least one stress relief heat treatment post-forming and welding. Notably, Daxun employs filler materials during the welding process to ensure impeccable quality.
