Duplex Steel S32205 Rods are indispensable in a myriad of sectors due to their outstanding attributes and versatility. S32205 is a duplex stainless steel merging the best of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, offering unmatched strength, corrosion resistance, and cost efficiency. Composition and Property: Duplex steel S32205 comprises approximately 22% chromium, 5-6% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and high nitrogen content, which bestows it with robust corrosion resistance and strength. Its dual-phase microstructure of austenite and ferrite surpasses conventional austenitic or ferritic stainless steels in mechanical properties. Corrosion Resistance: One of the most remarkable traits of the S32205 rod is its resistance to diverse forms of corrosion. It is highly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich environments, making it ideal for use in corrosive settings such as chemical processing, maritime environments, and the offshore oil and gas industry.

Duplex 2205 Round Bar is an elite grade of duplex ferritic-austenitic stainless steel, boasting a composition of 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 5-6% nickel. This widely-utilized duplex stainless steel stands out with a yield strength that is double that of regular austenitic grades. Its superior attributes include remarkable fatigue strength and exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion, pitting, erosion, and general corrosion under severe conditions.
Producers recommend a maximum hot forming temperature between 2010 and 2100°F (1100 to 1150°C). If the workpiece is not compact, the edges may cool significantly faster, risking cracks in the cooler regions.
Duplex 2205 exhibits excellent formability across a wide range of fabrications, making it a versatile choice for various applications. However, its high strength can present challenges during processing. Even with powerful equipment, it's essential to account for increased spring-back due to the grade's robust nature, ensuring precision and accuracy in every project.
Machining Duplex stainless steel bar 2205 requires more effort compared to 300 series austenitic stainless steel due to the higher cutting forces involved, which leads to quicker tool wear. To achieve optimal results, follow these guidelines: A) Utilize a powerful, rigid machine with a robust tool and workpiece mount; B) Minimize tool extensions to reduce vibration; C) Ensure the tool nose radius is no longer than necessary to maintain a sharp carbide edge while providing sufficient strength; D) Design the machining sequence so that each cut depth penetrates below the work-hardened layer from the previous operation.
