Duplex Steel S32205 Rods are heralded for their exceptional characteristics and versatile use in a multitude of sectors. S32205 is a duplex stainless steel that masterfully blends the advantages of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, yielding extraordinary strength, superior corrosion resistance, and remarkable cost efficiency. Composition and Property: Duplex Steel S32205 features approximately 22% chromium, 5-6% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and high levels of nitrogen, providing excellent corrosion resistance and strength. This dual-phase microstructure of austenite and ferrite surpasses traditional austenitic or ferritic stainless steels in mechanical properties. Corrosion Resistance: A standout feature of the S32205 rod is its impressive resistance to various forms of corrosion, especially pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. This makes it an optimal choice for corrosive settings such as chemical processing, maritime environments, and offshore oil and gas industries.

Duplex 2205 Round Bar is a high-performance duplex ferritic-austenitic stainless steel bar, boasting 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 5-6% nickel. Renowned as the most commonly used duplex stainless steel grade, its yield strength is double that of standard austenitic grades. This material excels in fatigue strength and offers unparalleled resistance to stress corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion, pitting, erosion, and general corrosion under severe conditions.
Most producers recommend a maximum hot forming temperature range of 2010 to 2100°F (1100 to 1150°C). If the workpiece is not compact, the edges might be significantly cooler than the bulk, risking cracking in the cooler regions.
Duplex 2205 demonstrates excellent formability across various fabrications. However, its high strength can pose challenges. Even with adequate equipment power, allowance for higher spring-back due to the grade's significant strength is necessary.
Duplex stainless steel bar 2205 presents a slightly greater machining challenge than 300 series austenitic stainless steels. It demands higher cutting forces, which can lead to faster tool wear. To achieve optimal results, adhere to these machining guidelines: A) Employ a robust, rigid machine with a powerful tool and secure workpiece mount; B) Minimize tool extensions to reduce vibration; C) Maintain a minimal tool nose radius to ensure a sharp carbide edge while preserving strength; D) Sequence the machining steps so the cutting depth remains beneath the work-hardened layer from previous operations.
