It exhibits excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, combined with superb thermal conductivity and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The alloy's high chromium, molybdenum, and nickel content guarantees remarkable resistance to pitting, crevices, and general corrosion.
Duplex 2507 (UNS S32750) is a top-tier super duplex stainless steel featuring 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel. It is expertly crafted for applications demanding high strength and resilience against corrosion, perfect for chemical processing, petrochemical, and seawater equipment. The steel demonstrates outstanding resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, along with high thermal conductivity and a minimal coefficient of thermal expansion. General Corrosion
For hot working, 2507 should be processed between 1875°F and 2250°F, followed by solution annealing at a minimum of 1925°F and a rapid air or water quench to maintain its superior properties.
Cold working 2507 aligns with most standard stainless steel processes. Due to its higher yield strength and lower ductility compared to austenitic steels, greater forming forces and larger bending radii may be required. Procedures such as deep drawing and stretch forming are more complex, necessitating solution annealing and quenching for deformations exceeding 10%.
Post hot or cold forming, 2507 should undergo solution annealing at no less than 1925°F, followed by a rapid air or water quench. For optimal corrosion resistance, heat-treated products must be pickled and rinsed.
2507 excels in weldability and can be seamlessly joined to itself or other materials using SMAW, GTAW, PAW, FCW, or SAW techniques. Employ 2507/P100 filler metal to achieve the desired duplex weld structure.
While not mandatory, 2507 is recommended to prevent condensation on cold metal surfaces. The Interpass
