316/316L stainless steel alloy is an austenitic stainless steel pipe containing molybdenum. The increased nickel and molybdenum content of this grade makes its overall corrosion resistance better than 304, especially with respect to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride conditions. In addition, 316/316L seamless pipe has excellent high temperature tensile, creep, and stress rupture strength, as well as excellent formability and weldability. 316L is a low carbon form of 316 that resists sensitization; therefore, it is widely used for large size welded components.
