A global leader in stainless steel pipe fabrication services Like most non-stainless steels, martensitic 410 stainless steel pipe can be toughened by a "quench and temper" heat treatment. Containing at least 11.5% chromium, it resists corrosion effectively. After hardening, tempering and polishing further enhance its resistance. This general-purpose grade, while usually hardened, remains machinable and is ideal for applications requiring moderate heat and corrosion resistance with high strength. The primary characteristic of martensitic stainless steels is their high hardness, though some other properties are compromised. Fabrication should account for poor weldability, often necessitating a final heat treatment. Compared to austenitic stainless steels, martensitic types have lower corrosion resistance, lose ductility at sub-zero temperatures, and lose strength at higher temperatures due to over-tempering. These factors limit their operational temperature range. The 410 stainless steel pipe, widely used with 12% chromium content, can undergo various heat treatments to achieve diverse mechanical properties. It offers high strength and hardness with commendable corrosion resistance. Ductile and forgeable, the 410 Stainless Steel Tube is magnetic under all conditions, but it is not suitable for environments prone to severe corrosion.

• Corrosion Resistance
  410 stainless steel is resistant to dry air, fresh water, mild bases and acids, foods, steam, and hot gases.
  For optimal heat and corrosion resistance, 410 must be hardened. Best performance is achieved when smooth.
  Heat Resistance
  Exhibits good resistance to scaling up to about 650°C. However, it is generally not recommended for use at temperatures between 400 and 580°C due to reduced mechanical properties.
  Heat Treatment
  For full annealing, heat to 815-900°C, slow furnace cool to 600°C, then air cool.
  For process annealing, heat to 650-760°C and air cool.
  Welding
  Easily welded by all standard methods but requires preheating to 150-260°C and post weld annealing to reduce the risk of cracking.
