GENERAL PROPERTIES
The 317L Stainless Steel Pipe is an exceptional low-carbon austenitic stainless steel imbued with molybdenum, chromium, nickel, and molybdenum for superior corrosion and chemical resistance. This pipe excels against sulfite, acetic, formic, citric, and tartaric acids. Its low carbon content ensures remarkable resistance to sensitization during welding, while also offering enhanced creep, rupture stress, and tensile strength at higher temperatures. In its annealed form, this stainless steel remains nonmagnetic, though it can become slightly magnetic post-welding.

CORROSION RESISTANCE

- For welding 317L steel, use AWS E317L/ER317L filler metal, or austenitic, low carbon filler metals with higher molybdenum content, or nickel-base filler metals with sufficient chromium and molybdenum to surpass the corrosion resistance of Type 317L.

- Tougher than 304 stainless; chip breakers are recommended due to its long stringy chip.
