Duplex 2507 (UNS S32750) is an exceptional super duplex stainless steel containing 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel. General Corrosion
For optimal results, 2507 should be hot worked between 1875°F and 2250°F, followed by a solution anneal at a minimum of 1925°F, and a rapid air or water quench.
2507 is compatible with most standard stainless steel forming techniques. Given its higher yield strength and lower ductility compared to austenitic steels, fabricators might require increased forming forces, larger bending radii, and allowances for springback. Techniques like deep drawing and stretch forming are more challenging. For over 10% cold deformation, a solution anneal and quench is recommended.
Post hot or cold forming, 2507 should be solution annealed and quickly quenched, ideally at a temperature not less than 1925°F, followed by air or water quenching. To maximize corrosion resistance, heat-treated products should be pickled and thoroughly rinsed.
2507 offers exceptional weldability and can be joined with similar or dissimilar materials using methods such as SMAW, GTAW, PAW, FCW, or SAW. Employ 2507/P100 filler metal to achieve the optimal duplex weld structure.
2507 insulation is typically unnecessary unless to avert condensation on cold metal surfaces.
