Weight Reduction

The CP 2 grade titanium tubes are celebrated for their low density and excellent strength-to-weight ratio, making them perfect for applications demanding weight reduction without compromising strength. These tubes are easily cold-formable, possess good ductility, and are weldable using conventional TIG and MIG methods. However, inert gas shielding is essential during welding to avoid embrittlement of the weld zone.

Crystal Structure

At room temperature, ASTM B338 Grade 2 titanium tubes exhibit an alpha (hexagonal close-packed) crystal structure, consistent with commercially pure titanium grades 1 and 3. When heated to approximately 885°C (1625°F), they transform into a beta (body-centered cubic) structure. The transformation temperature can be adjusted based on the type and quantity of impurities or alloying elements present, splitting the single equilibrium transformation temperature into distinct alpha and beta zones. In the alpha zone, the alloy remains entirely alpha, while in the beta zone, it becomes fully beta. Between these temperatures, both alpha and beta phases coexist. For Grade 2 titanium, typical alpha and beta transformation temperatures are 890°C (1635°F) and 913°C (1675°F), respectively.

Discover the remarkable properties of ASTM B338 Grade 2 Titanium Tube. At room temperature, it boasts an alpha (hexagonal close-packed) crystal structure, akin to commercially pure titanium grades 1 and 3. Upon reaching approximately 885°C (1625°F), it transitions to a beta (body-centered cubic) structure. This transformation temperature is adjustable based on impurities or alloying elements. These additions also segment the equilibrium transformation into two distinct temperature zones: the alpha zone (fully alpha) and the beta zone (fully beta), with a mixed phase existing in between. For Grade 2 Titanium, typical alpha and beta transformation temperatures are 890°C (1635°F) and 913°C (1675°F), respectively.

Superior Weldability

The DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 Titanium Tube, offers exceptional weldability. It is easily weldable in both annealed or solution and partially aged conditions. For achieving optimal results, aging is performed post-weld.

To maintain the integrity of your DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 Titanium Tube, careful precautions must be taken to prevent contamination from oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding can be expertly performed in an inert gas-filled chamber or with an inert gas tail shield to protect the molten metal and nearby hot zones. Additionally, spot welding, seam welding, and flash welding can be executed efficiently without a protective atmosphere.

Special Considerations for Optimal Performance

While working with DAXUN Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Tube, Grade 5 Titanium Tube, it is crucial to avoid contamination. Hydrogen contamination from improper pickling, or oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon absorption during processes like forging, heat treating, and brazing, can decrease ductility and adversely impact notch sensitivity and formability. Mitigate these risks to maintain the high-performance standards DAXUN products are known for.
