Duplex Steel S32205 Rods are revered across a variety of sectors for their outstanding characteristics and remarkable adaptability. S32205, a duplex stainless steel, harmoniously combines the benefits of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, delivering exceptional strength, superior corrosion resistance, and noteworthy cost effectiveness. Composition and Property: Duplex steel S32205 boasts an impressive composition of approximately 22% chromium, 5-6% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and generous levels of nitrogen, culminating in formidable corrosion resistance and strength. The dual-phase microstructure of austenite and ferrite significantly outperforms traditional austenitic or ferritic stainless steels in various mechanical characteristics. Corrosion Resistance: One of the most distinguishing features of the S32205 rod is its robust resistance to a spectrum of corrosive elements. It stands resilient against pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments, making it an impeccable choice for corrosive settings such as chemical processing, maritime environments, and the offshore oil and gas industry.

Duplex 2205 Round Bar is a high-performance duplex ferritic-austenitic stainless steel bar, meticulously engineered with 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 5-6% nickel. It stands as the most widely utilized duplex stainless steel grade, boasting a yield strength that is double that of common austenitic grades. This remarkable material excels in fatigue strength and offers outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking, crevice, pitting, erosion, and overall corrosion, even under the most severe conditions.
Most producers of Duplex 2205 recommend a maximum hot forming temperature between 2010 and 2100°F (1100 to 1150°C). When working with non-compact shapes, the edges may cool significantly faster than the bulk, increasing the risk of cracking in these cooler areas.
Duplex 2205 showcases excellent formability across various fabrication techniques. However, its high strength can present challenges. Even with adequate equipment power, it's crucial to consider the increased spring-back due to the grade's remarkable strength.
Machining Duplex stainless steel bar 2205 is somewhat more challenging compared to 300 series austenitic stainless steel, requiring greater cutting forces and leading to quicker tool wear. Key machining guidelines include: A) Utilize a robust, rigid machine with a strong tool and workpiece mount; B) Minimize tool extensions to reduce vibration; C) Maintain a necessary tool nose radius to ensure the carbide edge remains sharp and strong; D) Plan the machining sequence to ensure each depth of cut penetrates below the work-hardened layer from prior operations.
