Grade 2 Titanium Rod stands out as the workhorse among titanium alloy rods, offering a superior strength-to-density ratio ideal for weight-sensitive applications. As a commercially pure (CP) titanium alloy, it strikes the perfect balance between strength and weight, making it highly versatile. This rod excels in providing exceptional strength coupled with ductility. It boasts high impact strength and can be welded with ease. Remarkably corrosion-resistant in oxidizing conditions, alkaline media, brine solutions, weakly reducing environments, and wet ***, it also displays excellent resistance to seawater and saline solutions. The low density, high strength-to-weight ratio, and unparalleled corrosion resistance of Grade 2 Titanium Rod make it an outstanding option for a wide range of applications.

AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution treated and aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
Rapid quenching of small sections in the solution-treated and aged condition yields optimal properties. Larger sections or delayed quenching may result in reduced properties.
In the annealed condition, typical hardness is Rockwell C 30-34. In the solution-treated and aged condition, it ranges from Rockwell C 35-39.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar exhibits outstanding machinability using austenitic stainless steel machining techniques. Optimal results are obtained with slow machining speeds, high feeds, robust tools, and copious amounts of non-chlorinated cutting fluids.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod is highly weldable in both the annealed condition and the solution and partially aged condition, with subsequent aging occurring during post-weld heat treatment. It is critical to prevent contamination by oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding should be performed in an inert gas-filled chamber or with inert gas shielding to protect the molten metal and adjacent heated zones. Spot, seam, and flash welding can be performed without a protective atmosphere.
The Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod is susceptible to contamination from hydrogen during improper pickling and from oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during processes such as forging, heat treating, and brazing. Such contamination can reduce ductility, negatively impacting notch sensitivity and forming characteristics.
We manufacture bars tailored to your specifications.
Our bars feature excellent surface finish and straightness, impeccable roundness, and the tightest diameter tolerances (ISO 286-2 up to h5). Available in straightened, ground, and polished conditions.

Avoid using titanium with strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous ***.
Grade 2 Titanium exhibits excellent general corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments, as detailed in Table 1. CP titanium is notably resilient to conditions such as:
CP Titanium demonstrates superior resistance to crevice corrosion in salt solutions compared to stainless steels. It remains unaffected at temperatures below 80°C (176°F), even under super chlorinated conditions.
Grade 2 Titanium provides outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in hot chloride solutions and is immune to SCC in seawater.
Titanium offers excellent resistance to erosion in flowing environments.
Seawater with velocities up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec) shows negligible effect on the material. Even the presence of abrasive particles, such as sand, has only a minimal impact on corrosion.
Titanium exposed to seawater exhibits no significant absorption of hydrogen, even at elevated temperatures. Hydrogen absorption typically occurs only under the following three conditions:
Titanium alloys exhibit a unique immunity to all forms of microbiologically influenced corrosion. While titanium alloys do not show any toxicity toward marine organisms, biofouling can occur in seawater. This can be minimized through chlorination or by increasing water velocity through the heat exchanger.
Titanium stands apart from many other materials by not showing a decrease in fatigue performance in the presence of seawater. Both fatigue endurance limits and fatigue *** growth rates remain consistent whether tested in air or seawater.
In the galvanic series, titanium is positioned near the noble end, close to stainless steels, and typically acts as the cathode when paired with other metals. Consequently, titanium is not affected by galvanic corrosion but can accelerate the corrosion of the other metal. Pairing titanium with more noble metals, such as graphite, only enhances titanium's passivity.
Unlike many other materials, Grade 2 Titanium Rod does not show degradation in fatigue properties when exposed to seawater. Fatigue endurance limits and fatigue *** growth rates remain the same, whether tested in air or seawater.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rod is highly weldable if the necessary precautions are observed. Due to its reactivity, an inert gas shield must be placed on both the OD and ID of the rod. The material should be free of any grease or oil contamination.
Grade 2 Titanium Rods are typically welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire. Low heat input should be utilized to minimize the size of the heat-affected zone. Post-weld heat treatment is generally not required.
