Type 321 is a titanium-stabilized chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel with corrosion resistance comparable to 304/304L. This grade excels in the 800-1500˚F temperature range and is stabilized against chromium carbide precipitation through the addition of titanium, resulting in the formation of titanium carbides. Type 321 offers superior intergranular corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance up to 1500˚F, and enhanced creep and stress rupture properties compared to 304/304L. It remains strong at low temperatures and is non-magnetic when annealed.
