AMS 4928 - Bars, Forgings, and Forging Stock (Annealed)
AMS 4965 - Bars, Forgings (Solution Treated and Aged)
AMS 4967 - Bars, Forgings (Annealed, Heat Treatable)
During solution treated and aged conditions, rapid quenching of small sections achieves optimal properties. Larger sections or delayed quenching might yield less than optimal results.
In the annealed state, typical hardness ranges from Rockwell C 30-34, and approximately Rockwell C 35-39 in the solution treated and aged state.
Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy bar can be expertly machined using methods designed for austenitic stainless steel, employing slow speeds, high feeds, rigid tools, and copious amounts of non-chlorinated cutting fluids to ensure precision.
Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy rod is highly weldable whether in the annealed condition or in the solution and partially aged state, with aging achievable during post-weld heat treatment. It is crucial to avoid contamination from oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Fusion welding should be performed in an inert gas-filled chamber or with inert gas shielding the molten metal and adjacent heated zones, assisted by a tail shield. Techniques such as spot, seam, and flash welding can be executed without the necessity for a protective atmosphere.
Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 titanium alloy rod faces potential contamination with hydrogen from improper pickling, and with oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon during processes like forging, heat treating, and brazing. Such contamination may reduce ductility, adversely impacting notch sensitivity and forming characteristics.
We meticulously produce bars tailored to your exact specifications.
We ensure excellent surface and straightness, perfect roundness, and the tightest diameter tolerances (up to h5 according to ISO 286-2). Available in straightened, ground, and polished conditions.

Titanium should not be used with strong reducing acids, fluoride solutions, pure oxygen, or anhydrous ***.
The general corrosion rates for Grade 2 titanium in various media are presented in Table 1. CP titanium shows excellent corrosion resistance across a broad range of environments, including:
CP titanium demonstrates superior resistance to crevice corrosion in salt solutions compared to stainless steels. CP titanium will not undergo crevice corrosion at temperatures below 80°C (176°F), regardless of pH, even under highly chlorinated conditions.
Grade 2 titanium boasts exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in hot chloride solutions and remains immune to SCC in seawater, making it a superior choice for demanding environments.
Titanium exhibits outstanding resistance to erosion in flowing environments.
Seawater with velocities up to 130 ft/sec (40 m/sec) shows negligible impact on titanium. Even with abrasive particles like sand, the material's corrosion resistance remains largely unaffected.
Titanium shows no significant hydrogen absorption when exposed to seawater, even under elevated temperatures. Hydrogen absorption typically occurs only under the following conditions:
Titanium alloys demonstrate unique immunity to microbiologically influenced corrosion. While biofouling can occur due to the non-toxic nature of titanium towards marine organisms, it can be minimized by chlorination or increasing water velocity.
Titanium maintains its fatigue performance in seawater, showing no decrease in endurance limits or *** growth rates compared to air, making it ideal for marine applications.
In the galvanic series, titanium is positioned towards the noble end near stainless steels and usually acts as the cathode when coupled with other metals. This prevents titanium from being affected by galvanic corrosion but can accelerate the corrosion of the coupled metal. When paired with more noble metals, such as graphite, titanium's passivity is further enhanced.
Grade 2 Titanium Rods maintain their fatigue properties in seawater environments, with no degradation in endurance limits or *** growth rates, ensuring reliability in both air and seawater conditions.
CP2 Grade Titanium Rods are highly weldable with proper precautions. Due to titanium's reactivity, an inert gas shield must be used on both the OD and ID of the rod, and the material must be free of any grease or oil contamination.
Grade 2 Titanium Rods are typically welded using manual or automatic TIG welding, with or without filler wire. Low heat input is recommended to minimize the heat-affected zone. Post-weld heat treatment is generally not required.
